AEM CAI questions

Does the AEM CAI go in to the front fender or does it just sit over the hole where the filter use to be? If it dosen't how could you make it? Just thought id ask before I buy.

You could be a 2 piece intake and modify it so that the sec part fits over that hole.

No, this question is okay, because it's concerned with application and not the product itself.

And I want to know the answer too. I watched my friend put his CAI in his Accord the other day, but he has a 2.2L, so it didn't help me much...

Casper is correct. The CAI goes into the fenderwell. You need to remove the wheel on the driver side to get into the fenderwell to install the second tube. I believe short ram stays atop the hole.

ahhh.. that is definitely an option or if you can jack up your car and simply remove the under guard and turn your wheel out.. you'll be fine too... All depends on your liking.. Im too lazty to take the wheel off myself!!!! sounds like more work than it is...

You guys are talking about the CAI for the 3.0. I believe it's different for the 2.2. Here's a pic of NoGa's 97 2.2 CL with AEM CAI.

I know AngelCL does not like stupid questions but ive never herd this one asked b4. I want an intake that the tube goes behind the battery in like in that pic but i want the tube to go in to the hole and the filter to be in the fender compleately isolated from the hot engine bay air. Any one know of such a product?

In that case, you can always have a pipe custom-made for you.

I recently installed the AEM CAI in my 1997 2.2cl it put the filter in the front wheel well. If you live in an area with alot of rain you may order the air by-pass valve. It took about an hour and a half and cost me $200 delivered. I ordered the one for a 94-97 accord ex and it sounds awesome worth every penny.

CAI = Cold Air Induction = Always better than short ram

The colder the air the better.

It has something to do with colder air being more denser and ignites better.

Cold air is denser so it can hold more oxygen molecules. If you have more oxygen in the air that is going to your engine, it will perform better. Therfore, you want cold air to go to your engine. The CAI, or, cold air induction, pulls air from the fender well, where the air is cooler. Short Ram pulls air from the engine bay, where the air is hotter. Hope that explains it.

DREWHA!!!!... where you been.. you still coming sunday right!?

The difference is the temp of the air going into the motor.. The cooler the air, the better the engine burns and performance.. the hotter the air.. the worse off it burns and the less performance...
as for the reasons why.. call comptech or your local expert mechanic...lol
