add 10 hp easially?

my auto teacher was telling me that when he was a kid he ran a switch to his alternator and so he would turn it off, i guess that made the magnets not work so his car was faster...would this be true? just a thought

I thought about that too and even did some reasearch. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ernator+switch Someone informed me that it won't work because you'll blow the voltage regulator or something like that. Don't know if he was just saying that or if he knew for sure.

That's what I was thinking as I read this, he did it on an old probably carbureted car, with no computer. A comp wouldn't let this happen, your sensors would go nuts, starting with your battery and charging system lights, on to the popular check engine light. I don't know why you would want to do this anyway, I've lost my alternator, and once you drain that battery, your car is as good as a statue on he side of the road. So you can sit and stare at your bling bling while you're waitin for a cab or your parents to come get you, cuz your car won't be moving anywhere.
