AC Problem/Question...

So the other day... I hit my Auto button for my AC... and it doesn't turn on! So i'm like okay... must be electrical. Check the fuse... turns out it was blown... and replace it with a 7.5 and tada! It works! So I just turn it on that one time to test to see if it works. The next day... I go to turn it on... and DOH... doesn't work again... so I change the fuse again... turn it on once... and tada! Works! The next day again... try to turn it on again... DOH... nothing... Any ideas what the problem might be? Why do I all of a sudden keep burning through fuses? How should I approach this problem now?

TIA

Sounds like you've got a short to power somewhere in that circuit, gotta figure out where it is. Might be an issue trying to track down though.

You didn't specify exactly which fuse it was that was blowing. Hondas were famous for the a/c compressor coil shorting out and blowing the fuse, but it was usually a 10 amp fuse. 7.5 amps is pretty low, so it must be for the a/c control unit. As a previous poster wrote, something is shorting out. To determine exactly what is causing it you will need a wiring diagram or your vehicle might have self-diagnostic capability for the a/c system. In either case, if you wish to attempt to fix it yourself, you will need a service manual telling you how to access the diagnostics or a wiring diagram to see what that fuse feeds.

well according to the fuse box panel under the dash... it is a 7.5amp fuse. I replaced it with a 7.5amp the first time.. then the second time it went out.. I used a 10amp bc i didn't have any 7.5 to spare... then that blew... so yea.. I gotta track it down somehow... hmm..

is it just the air conditioner that doesn't come on or is it the whole controls that do not come on? I guess another way to put it is, does the heater work and just the air conditioner doesn't or nothing works at all because the fuse to the controls is blown?

bc the fuse is blown... the controls do not work... None of the buttons work in the climate control panel. Just unaware of what could be blowing the fuses out right after I change them...
