AAARRRRGGGHHH got screwed by ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Just came today. EVERY mounting bracket on it was snapped off. Probably stolen. instead of leaving negative feedback, I emailed him demanding half my money back (especially since the no reserve auction started at $50) and told him negative feedback will ensue if I don't get it.

Be careful who you buy from when you're buying used, and always ask more than enough questions.

That really sucks. You should demand all of your money back, then threaten to report him to ebay, then when he pays you, report him anyways. If you payed with a credit card, contact them and you shouldn't have to pay for it.

You may also wish to contact the police... If this is a stolen item, they'll probably want to know.

I just looked at his feedback...this asshole has only sold TWO items including that headlight you bought. ALL but TWO of his feedback is from somethings he's purchased.

If you paid through paypal, you can file a claim w/ them.

Yup, gotta watch out for those private sellers.. Anyway, I got scammed the first time I bought something off of Ebay, from a private seller. I filed a claim through paypal and they had refunded me 95% of my $400 purchase.

Did you recieve the headlight with all mounting brackets snapped off?

It's going to be a tad bit difficult to claim in your situation, because you have already recieved the item and the claim is going to be based on all parties explaination. If the private seller denies the damages on the headlight, you may have to file a claim through the shipping company.

Yes, the brackets were nowhere to be found in the box. It was clearly not a shipping error, unless I snaped em all off myself, which would be pretty hard to do if I didn't install it and rip it off the car. You can tell the screws/bolts were in it when it was snapped by where the break is.

Alright, just trying to clear up the story. It's looking good in your situation. We'll see what paypal says. If anything, give them a call also.

do that

paypal is the shit with gettin your money back and if they cant get it all back tell them you are covered under the paypal protection to ensure that they get the person, what they do is pay you out of their pockets and suspend his paypal account till he pays them off in full

i had to do this to a guy recently, left him negative feedback reported him to ebay and paypal

pursue it to the fullest man, its some work but its worth it and you keep the item too in some cases

Joe

file a false contact info report first...
then after 3-4 days, file a item misrepresentation report

i though paypal offers buyers protection if the item is "materially" different than what was advertised. What ever materially means, but the seller did say "excellent condition" in the add. Doesn't sound like it was excellent. good luck!

He just contacted me today, offering the $50 back or if I wanted to return it, my full money back. Unfortunately it was on my car at the time of the accident and suffered minor cracks so returning it is out of the question, so I just told him I'll keep it because I know a few people who want the lens, or that I could use the lens for a blackout project
