98 Cl - Deactivating the factory alarm?
hey guys im back! been a while!
ok i know holding the trunk and lock button shuts off the siren, howeever, does it disable the security system or just shut down the siren? anyone know how to completely disengage the alarm permanently? were installing a new alarm because his factory alarm is going off in the night, and my guess is that when the doors lock the alarm is activated. thanks in advance.

Most people hook their AM alarms into their stock alarms. holding the buttons down just turns off the chirp. U gotta do a lot more to disable the alarm, most people just bypass it and run the wires into the brain of the AM alarm

Find out what's making the factory go off in the first place- the factory alarm cant be completely disabled- you can ground out the trunk pin input and that will make it not arm- but the door locks and door pins function through the alarm so you really have to keep it in tact. Most likely whatever is causing the factory to go off will cause the aftermarket to go off as well. (ie faulty doorpin) and if there actually is a problem with the factory you would want to take care of it so it doesn't cause problems down the road. I've posted instructions on how exactly to make the alarm not arm before- do a search for the thread if ya wanna.

If you live in a quiet residential area, you may not want the chirping sounds to go off when your coming home late, so you have the option to turn it off.
To turn it back on, just do the same thing, hold down the 2 buttons until the alarm chrips telling you it's activated.
