98 Acura CL

98 Acura CL
What's up everyone? I'm new. I just bought a 98 Acura CL (70, 000 miles) for $8750. Was that a good deal?
I got inspected and everything is good. Will need a transmission flush and some brake pads soon. Quick questions:
When do you usually change the timing belt on these? Better to be done by the dealer or my mechanic?
What do you use to maintain the leather?
Thanks

I got my timing belt/water pump done at 105,000 miles. Have it done by someone who deals with acura/honda specifically.
They have expensive leather treatment stuff. Personally I don't think it's worth it. Just don't be mean to your leather :P

DO NOT FLUSH YOUR TRANSMISSION!
You'll thank me for that bit of advice

His is like mine but without a spoiler. Like the look. But as for the pee shooter exhaust, welcome to the club. I'm looking at a magnaflow 14815.
As for the transmission, if you aren't sure about the maintenance records, do a drain and fill on the ATF and inspect it carefuly. Look for signs of graphite-colored particals. if there are none, you can do flushes at regular intervals. But if there are fragments present, or the fluid is burned (not pink or lightly orange) then you should only do drain and fill.
If the transmission is solid and doesn't shift roughly, slip or nuetral out then the previous owner probably took care of it. And you should continue with the normal maintenance schedule. Good luck.
And with the TB, get it done around 90,000 miles and have the water pump done at the same time.

Welcome to the boards, and leave the exhaust the way it is. You don't need a big exhaust. Everyone on here that has a big exhaust is making up for something. That's why I got the biggest exhaust I could find, cuz my wiener is small.
