98/99 JDM grill conversion

well today i was bored so i decited to start my jdm grill. today i cut out all of the slats, and sanded it so its all ready for bondo or quick seal, which should i use, didnt recycledpaper use quick seal? well i guess ill figure it out when i finish it tomorrow. it wasnt too hard cutting out the slats, it was kinda a bitch though. it took me about 1 hour and 30 min to do all of this today.i just put the mesh in the pix back on so it didnt look like total ass tonight and tomorrow for when i drive...so far i think this is the most work on a 99 grill, correct me if im wrong. ill post the rest of the pix as soon as i finish

im not trying to say i have something i dont or anything, but i thought that is what these style of grills were called. check this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/aftermarket-cd-changer-question-174890/

i am not trying to be some type of type R poser or anything, i just got tired of having my mesh grill and when you look through it you can see all of the slats on the inside. like in my avatar

that looks like absolute shit. whats is that ? chicken wire ? you need to take the time and custom fab the grill. Youre not suppose to use bondo. Your supposed to use filler wire and epoxy for bodywork. Bondo will crack. Theres alot of other tecnique needed, but i would recommend you put your stock grill back on and keep it that way, or when you decide to do the work right, give it a go

no dude, the chicken wire is just there for driving tonight and tomorrow it will not be on the grill forever, just for a day so it kinda hides the fact that im not done yet, i am taking the time, i am not done yet, i still have a majority of the work to yet do

OK, I can't say I like what I saw in the pictures, but then again, if I'm lying awake on the OR table and the doc ain't done yet, do you think I'm gonna like that either? Just get 'er done, then post a DYI. And the rest of you, damn haters, just wait till he's done, then his ass if you don't think his work is .

did you put a black mesh behind your grill, or how did you get the dark black effect?

and you know if you woulda left that big blob of plastic in the middle it wouldve completely conceald the hood latch. then all you wouldve had to do is paint it black. if you dont paint it youll still be able to see it. unless youre going to put the mesh in the back then youll want to paint the hood latch. and you need to get a sheet of real mesh fast. and folding it over the sides just looks like vomit. just cut around the sides with wire cutters. takes longer but lookes cleaner. im about to start my fourth grille so ive tried a few things.

I love your car, and your a good guy, but let me help you out. I used broad mesh, and painted it black. Then, cut your hood support out. For the grill, you need alot of very very fine mesh ( autobody support mesh ) and you need to cut each piece individualy for all those V in the grill. I had a 97 grill so mine was cake. Use autobody epoxy ( like bondo but bery flexable so it doesnt crack ) fuse the mesh and epoxy on the grill ( not a pretty thing to see or do ) once its all nasty like and dried, hit to sanding. be gental and make sure you take your time. I would do a FULL DIY but i have no grill to do it on keep it clean, keep it strong, and keep it

Try driving with a busted up hood, no grille, bent hood around the grill slot, and a hood that dosnt close all the way so therfor the hood and the fenders dont align together...
