98 3.0cl audio help

Hi i wanted to add a amp to my car for subs. I have gotten everything set up except i dont want to take out my radio just to hook up the remote turn on lead thus i thought about it and remebered the bose amp already in the trunk. My question is in the 98 acura cls which color wire should i splice into for remote turn on lead. I have read many wiring diagrams but i cant figure out which one to use because there are the ignition switch turn on and the antenna power up turn wires and they are 2 diff wires so im not sure which one to use so if someone who has installed a amp in the trunk using the wiring from the existing bose amp help me which color wire should i use. Thanks for any help and im sorry if its in the forum already.

use the ignition one, if u use the antenna one, then ur subs will only work when ur radio is on. i did that in my old car because the wired were the same color. what do u mean u dont wanna take out ur radio, what about the rca cables? u need to plug those into ur deck, unless ur hardwiring it from ur speaker wire?

I used the yellow/whitestripe wire for my amp. this is the remote turn on for the factory amp.

hi thanks for such fast responses guys. So the yellow white wire thanks alot also does the radio have built in preamps i wasnt sure cause i havent tacken it out mainly cause im too lazy to goto dealer to get my radio code. i talked to a couple guys but they think i stole the radio so they wont give me the code even though i provided them with my vin number which was the dealer where the car was originally bought from. So i have to take some time out and actually goto one of the dealers in my area which are all like 1 hour away and thats me driving normal cl speed(90-100) lol.

you need to find a wiring manual. stock radio does not have RCA outputs, so you have to go buy a line-output converter... which is like 20 bucks at circuit city. then i tapped into the output wires that go to the rear speakers. the input wires are all covered in a metal sleeve, and i guess thats to avoid interference. i didnt want to risk it

i already have the converter and have it spliced into the rear speakers like u i just thought if the stock radio has preamp outs and if its better quality id use those rca connects but sice the stock doesnt then im good
im almost done with everything except putting power wire on cause i gotta disconnect the battery which will turn off my radio and i dont want to do dat because one sunday htye arent even open and only free time i ever have is on sat and sunday. Plus the guys at the dealership think im a theif so they wont even provide me with the serial code for the radio so i have to take it out or just take it to da dealership and have them give it to me. Someone should complain to acura the ownerslink should give you the radio code, when u enter the vin number.

thanks everybody for your guys help i ended up doing it a lil harder way i got a battery hooked it up to a car cigraette lighter and put it in there to save the memmory of the radio but using this technique u gotta make sure never to open doors or turn on ignition or even put u keys in the battery lasted throughout the whole thing now i have everything set up but it doesnt sound as good as it did in my previos car which was a 91 honda accord it seems to not come into the cabin very well but wen i open my trunk it blasts my ears. Anybody know what the problem could be im thinking the back wall of the car is a lil thicker den da previos car and thats y. Any way i can boost the performance of the subs i opened up the small openin from da trunk into da car and that makes alot of diff so i was thinking of maybe putting a port in my rear deck. What you guys think???

Get an amp, and an aftermarket head unit, and wire it properly, that'll give you better performance. No need to port your deck, you can use the ski pass as a bandpass, and thanks to the engineers at honda/acura that points right at the back of your head for extra deafening effect

It was me worring that id lose the use of the radio dat y i took me longer but i remebered that sum cars u can charge the car battery through the cigrette lighter so dats what made me try that technique. Plus i didnt say it sounded bad just not as good as it did in my previous car. Also spencer i looked under da fuse box inside the fuse box all over in the glovebox almost removed the gloebox lookin for that damn code but i couldnt find it. o well ill just goto the dealer when my battery dies on me.

that means so much work for him to pull out his book, find the diagram, scan it, upload it, and link it to you.

first off thanks for doing that.

I am trying to figure out this little amp in my trunk myself. I unplugged it and it seems to have no effect, so I'm not positive im looking at the right thing. Its a little to the driver's side right above the ski pass. I want to use the power off that plus line level inputs + ignition but I cant seem to find the yellow wire or the power wire ... any help? (im having a hard time understanding that diagram)

ok that was totally the wrong thing. The amp is in the rear passenger's side corner under the jack as i saw in another thread. U remove the jack and start pealing away the carpet to find it. Then just remove the 3 nuts to get at it fairly easily. I'm trying to isolate rear L/R , antenna, and power and will post results

edit: do i just use ignition for power?

Fucking ! I cant believe how ghetto this thread was getting.

It all went downhill from the line out adapter for whatever amount from circuit shitty.

ok finally figured out that diagram and got my bazooka hooked up. It sounded mediocre, which i blame on the fuggin bose amp. I had it before with 4x50 running off a nice head unit and it was off the rear line inputs but it sounds not as punchy in this application. the biggest problem is that i just split the power off the amp IN instead of off the battery, but it would be a major PITA to run that cable. In summary it actually sounds quite good and for $95 installed, i got a little bump in the trunk, but not enough to advertise to the local hoodlums

btw those nuts are 10mm

sorry never been one for good grammer or punctuation. But to gaujo i suggestnot using the same power wire from the bose amp its really not that hard to run a wire from the front to trunk most thing pop off. Also u mite blow the fuse for ur radio becuase they are all connected.

What i did was i took the power wire through this huge grommet to the left of the pedals and up like a foot, pulled back the carpet in the dirvers area and the door trim pulls rite off just put it along that and when u get near the rear seats just shove it behind the trim along the seats and then i just kinda shoved it behind them. Then to get into the trunk there is a gap between the ski pass and the carpetting of the trunk, i shoved my hand there and inbetween the seats like where back rest meats the bottom and just pulled it through.from there u can either just pull it out or u can route the wire under the carpet or what not. and thats it it took me a total of maybe 15 mins.
