97' CL vs. 98' Accord Coupe

Does anybody what the differences are with handling and power between the 97' 3.0 CL and the 98' Accord Coupe v6 Ex. I've had my Cl for about 4 months now, and I drove the Accord yesterday, and it seemed to have a better ride, and better handling especially at high speeds and on ruff roads, so i was thinking of trading it in for the accord. Any Pro's/Con's between the two? And am I right, or is that just me?

I am not a PRO. But I would say that they have identical engines. It could have been that the weather conditions were different when you drove them (When it's colder, the car runs better). Plus it could have been the conditions of the cars: when engine oil have been changed, what kind of fuel have been used, condition of air filter, etc.)

My $.02.

I've had just the opposite experience. I recently purchased a '98 3.0CL (traded in a '92 Accord EX 4DR) and also test drove a '98 Accord EX Coupe before making my decision. I felt the CL had a much smoother ride on the freeway, was much quieter, and I like all of the accessories (the heated seat, mirrors, the bose stereo vs. honda factory, etc..). I also think the CL has much better visibility. On top of all of this, there aren't a whole lot of them on the road, it's nice to be somewhat unique.

Are you sure the rough ride isn't due to your tires needing to be balanced or some other suspension issue? -D

The 3.0CL uses the chassis of the 94-97 Accord. The current gen Accords benefit from a stronger body structure, updated suspension tuning, etc. So yes, the new Accord is better on paper than any 1st gen CL and should be that way in real life as well.

My ex used to have a 99 accord V6 coupe. I hated that thing. The steering was too tight and the handling was horrible- that may have been due to the wheels/tire (they suck). I also believe the visibility is worse on the accord. And yes, they do share many things identical, but the CL has things like thicker glass to drown out road noise, climate control, thicker body material, and other little things that arent obvious.

the new accord come with the f23 not f22 engines like the 97 cl. the 98-99 cls also have the f23.
f22 makes 145hp 147 torque
f23 make 150hp at least 150 torque
my opinion is that accord are played out stay original and keep ur cl.

VXCL, original question was about V6 engines (200 hp, 195 torque).

3.0 CL is supposed to be faster. It's lighter. From what I've seen...and heard it is. Fastvtec ran like 14.7 w/ intake, exhaust, and comptech headers. Best I've seen a 98+ accord run is maybe a 15.2 w/ the same mods.

According to edmunds.com, the 98 Accord coupe is only about 20 lbs heavier than the 97 CL 3.0 premium.

im almost positive that the cl has more agressive gears in the tranny and that is why it is faster then the accord.
