3.0cl turbo and trans
I'm looking around for a fairly good turbocharger for my 1997 acura 3.0cl. I can't find anything on my own and i was wondering if anyone know of any brands or types that would fit my car. Also, i have read that the stock automatic transmission wouldn't hold up under a turbo. I had already considered converting it into a manual, and i was wondering if doing this would reduce/remove any of the problems that turbo would create...

unless daddy wants to fund this little science project, you are fucked.
this is easily a 10k+ job, and one that no one has done, get a new car.

A 2nd gen member is turboed and last time i checked, he was making 411whp@6.5psi. So yes it is possible. Dr. evil will not touch our trannys being that there is a difference, I don't know what exactly, but they told me over the phone there arent any parts for the cl automatic in production as of now. You will need good fuel management and a kick ass tuner. All you would need to do is swap in an accord tranny, and ecu. Don't forget to send it to dr evil to get it built before you swap it in, thats around $4500. If you gots money to blow go for it

My brother in law's father owns a shop in which he rebuilds a buncha older model muscle cars (camero, etc.). His main speciatly is turning automatics into manuals, he can do it in most any car, granted it could take a while to find parts, but he still does it pretty well. He offered to convert my 3.0cl into a manual for a couple thousand, so the transmission problem doesn't bother me all too much. My main thing is trying to find a turbo that would fit/run under the hood.
And as a response to whomever was talkin about my dad funding it: yeah, i am 17, but i've been working between computers and other odd-end jobs for the last 3 years and im pretty sure my own bank account can withstand what im wanting to do to this car...

if you wanna spend that cash and get a car thas' worth the dollars... just get a car tha's worth it... and by worth it, i mean the speed and power for the money and trouble...
97 3.0 auto + all that $$$ = not what you'd want for the price you's bout to pay

Ya know, for people that love the first gens so much, a lot of you are very angsty toward people trying to do new things to their cl's. If he has the resources, I would be very intersted to see if he could get the manual swap and turbo to work. I just love how you guys shoot it down immediately. Yes it will be expensive, but half the expense is labor, and if he has a good hookup for that, then it's feasible. Good luck youngin

look at every person on here that has had a turbo. they all sold their cars shortly after. my guess is people are dissapointed with the results or they are tired of constantly fixing things. not to mention doing an engine and tranny swap with it. That right there is good enough reason for me not to spend 15 - 20k on making a luxury car fast. :twocents:

I actually had a quick little run against an Odyssey the other night. It was fun of course I left him because that biatch is heavier than our cars.

must have been an older one with the 2.2
the newer ones will stay even if not ahead of a 3.0 or 2.2

its a 2.5 (reinforced 2.2 for the minivan), they only had them in 88' 89' befor using the 3.0 Mitsu. v6 engine.
12'.65@135mph if you cant see it. the shortblock is stock and unopened w/ over 140K miles, only bolt-on and external mods.
P.S. sorry for getting off topic. I just love those 80's turbo Mopars, fast and cheep.
