some guy did it w/ an accord v6, but it cost him around 5-6K. Check out www.v6accord.com for more info.

I did this to my Accord two years ago. It only cost me $600, but then again it's an old Accord with many similar swap parts available. All I can say is WOW, what a difference. It made me want to keep it instead of sell it. Mileage went up 5-7 MPG too!!

just so you guys know... the fastest street legal supra in the world is automatic.

all (most) top fuel dragsters are automatic.

automatic is better for racing. it is the biggest misconception (IMO) on the scene.

the problem lies within the gearbox... who makes a 6 speed auto? someone needs to.

too bad our trannies suck though.

No, automatic is better for racing only at a high level like top-fuel or fastest street legal. Take that down to the average daily driver, or anything OTHER than a dead-stop start, and the manual tranny car will walk away every time. That and the pleasure of day-to-day driving make the manual transmission extremely more desireable (for those who enjoy it). Btw, I heard Mercedes is making a 6-Speed Auto... OH and Ferrari a 7-Speed Manual!?

rethink the manual always walking away from an auto. There have been plenty of auto CL's that have smoked me. Well avtaully only one. And it was a 3.0

Who cares if the fastest surpa is automatic, there is no comparison to driving a stick, besides no cl is gonna be going that fast, auto or stick. Automatic is for lazy people and their grandparents. i don't care how fast or slow a car is, as long as it has a clutch and atleast 5 forward gears I will take it anyday over an automatic. With a stick you're DRIVING. You can deliver all the engine's potential to your wheels as you like using your right hand and left foot. When you learn to drive a stick you will see what I mean.

Have you ever actually driven a stick? There is no comparison in the driving experience between stick and auto. You're much more intimately involved in the operation of the car with a stick.

The bottom line is, a manual transmission is more efficient than an auto so there is more power available at the wheels... it also weighs less. I simply enjoy being more "involved in the operation of the car"... I could really care less which is faster, they both are fast.

I'M NOT FUCKING LAZY!

Bring your stick-shifting ass over my way and watch my automatic CL blow your fucking doors off!

BTW: I learned how to drive a stick when you were 5 y.o.

Sticks are great unless you communte in DC traffic (you know; 1st--2nd--1st--2nd--1st--2nd, etc, etc, for an hour more more) GREAT FUN!

EDIT: niedejb need not apply! :P

it all really depends on the way you look at cars. automatic and stick both have there ups and downs.

It's all in bottom line sppeeed fella's. As long as i have gears and my car runs fast, then i need not worry about the 2.2 or 2.3 who needs 3k in mods just to be able to hang with a stock 3.0.

yea, but stick is alot more fun to drive, and those auto's they have in the drag cars shift in milliseconds. Ours doesn't and never will. A stick would be much more efficient.

yes automatics are known for not handling big power. Ask that guy w/ the fastest supra how many tranny's he's gone through. It's probally way up in double digits, and he probally doesn't even have a supra tranny anymore, alot of those guys have given up on the supra tranny's past about 550-600 HP and are starting to switch to big heavy duty GM tranny's

Two cars modded exactly the same the stick will walk everytime w/ a good driver. Just look at the CL-S times compared w/ the auto and the 6 speed. The 6 speeds are running a good half a second faster then the auto. Also sticks will always produce more power cause their is less loss of power through the drivetrain. Sticks loose on avg about 13% of their power through the drivetrain will autos loose about 20+
