I gotta question for everyone. My mechanic is either going to be putting an accord or prelude tranny in my 97 2.2. How much of a gain in the 1320 would i be gaining with each tranny?

go with accord better gearing, if your running hwy or going turbo but if your staying na then go with the lude it get you up in the rpms faster for light to light action but for real power and to use that power get the accord

one of my friend have a 94 Prelude with a H22A in it and with a bunch bolt-on mods and it feel (very noticable) that its slower than my other friend 02 Prelude and about 40K miles.
the 02 prelude bearly pull on my 140K miles j30 CL which is almost stock...around 100mph i just hold him...dont know how the high speed run will be.

I have a 99 cl manual, and my brother has a 98 prelude sh manual, I'm at 3000 rpm at 60 mph in 4 th gear, exactly what prelude is at in 5th gear. In 5th I'm actually at 2250 rpm.
So he has shorter gears, if you use our tranny with an h22 you'll fall below 5000 rpm when shifting and not be in vtec in the next gear which would really blow.
Maybe some night I'll swap drivetrains between our cars? I wish it was like 15 minutes to do. I'd be like yo can I barrow ya drive train for some racing tonight?

I'm feeling those rims, how much did you lower?
and, btw, I'd want a 3.0 manual 5 speed vs. an h22 b/c of better driveability, and 3.0 would probibly make more power b4 it blew. Plus, I've alway loved the way the intake looks, stupid I guess. Not quite as beautiful as an sho engine tho.

who gives a flying fuck. they are both slower than hell. the only reason i did my swap was because i was faced with replacing my automatic transmission and i knew damn well it would just fail again. it was cheaper for me to just buy a clip and convert it to 5spd. I enjoy the extra horsies and its definately WAY faster than before, but i'm not going to try and make it any faster because it just pointless. No matter what you do, there is always someone faster than you out there. allthough...i can say with confidence that i am the only h22-cl with a full blown pc-based gps/dvd/mp3/3d game media system. beat that!

I know this is an old thread, but I had to jump in. I just raced a guy 2 days ago that claimed to have a h22 swap in his 3.0CL. He still had the 3.0 badges, but in place of the dual outlet stock exhaust he had a coffee can. He claimed he had headers and intake and such as well, but wouldn't pop the hood. I also noticed a guage pod, prob a/f, and coolant temp. I'm not sure if the guy is on these forums or not. But the race went a little something like. On green I ease into it to prevent the inevitable spin that usually lasts through 1st and into the start of 2nd, he began to pull during the ease in, and then I nailed it. Immediately I reeled him in and pulled really hard into 3rd, and shut down at 100. I couldn't tell how many cars I had on him, but it was quite a few. I think the 3.0's would do much better with a different trans. As my CLS would do better with a 6speed. Anyways, had to share.

I use my parking brake, but thats because i have a stick. i just use it so that i wont move off the line (important at the track) That way both feet are where they need to be, clutch and gas. Rev it to about 3-4k, clutch almost engaged, as soon as the light drops, drop the brake and floor it and your off.

Are you kidding???? thats what the ebrake is for...Pull the ebrake as hard as you can and punch it. Really easy if you have a stick. Just dump the cluth at like 3k and youll get them sheels spinning no problem. Youll be dragging your rear wheels but youll get them spinning.

I raced one since my swap and actualy he was in front of me at a light, when it turned green he floored it as I shifted to second gear I switched lanes and passed him as his girlfriend watched me pass by.

This is one old ass thread... wow. And as for power-breaking in the 3.0, I use one foot on the break and one on the gas. It feels shitty, I don't like to hear my car grown and strain... I can feel the transmission getting raped. So, I don't dig or launch very often. I like the ease in, but sometimes that just won't cut it... Oh, and all things equal, 3.0 > 2.x,

My sig tells all besides, 2.x auto transmissions last a little longer cause they have less power... lmao And if the 3.0s had a manual, the 2.x guys would wet their britches and piss on their biatches like some kind of rapper hip hop dude.
