3.0 ATF capacity?
Ok, I've drained and filled 3 times now and always referenced an old thread that gave me the fill capacity and the flush capacity. I cant find it this morning and have found two contradicting amounts. One saying 2.5 qts, and another saying 4qts. The thread I cant find I think said a total of 9.3 full flush, and 3.6 drain and fill (which contradicts both of what I've found) Can someone please clarify this for me.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Automatic Transmission Fluid Capacity: 2.4 ltr. (2.5 US qt.) at changing
6.0 ltr. (6.3 US qt.) at overhaul
Hope this helps...

8. Refill with the fluid of choice
You dont have to do it that many times, but that's what I did. I bought some cheap fluid as my waste fluid that I kept draining. And kept my good one for last. Our tranny holds about 7.6 quarts of tranny fluid including the torque convertor. This procedure is done for the obvious. To drain the fluid in the convertor. A drain and refill consists of 4 quarts simply because it does not include the fluid in the torque convertor.
A simply drain and refill should be sufficient enough. This can be done at your own home and is easy to do.

Well, I guess im just gonna fill and check until its to the proper level. I called to ask the dealer and he said it could be from 4-6 qts (great answer). Also... when checking the transmission fluid level, is the transmission supposed to be in neutral? I thought I heard that the proper way to check the tranny fluid level is to have it in neutral, but dont remember.

Two things: First off, I remember having the same issue as you, looking for the proper amount of fluid needed for the tranny flush. If that's what I stated, then that was probably the final answer concluded after my own research.
Second, the picture above does not look like our placement of the drain plug if I remember correctly. I could have sworn it was facing the rear of the car, and not along the side of the axle which would face it outside of the driver side. So, with that said, is the picture and fluid specified above for the 2.2/2.3 CL's?

I ended up doing the fill and check method, and came close to 4 quarts. The bolt does face the the driver side wheel. Also, just a word of advice if anyone does this themselves the next time. My drain bolt didn't have very much residue on it this time, and it usually does. So I cleaned it off and ran one of my magnetic tipped screw drivers across its surface about 20 times and then tested it by putting it on my fridge and the magnetic pull was much stronger than when I took it out, so hopefully next time I change the fluid I'll see a lot more sludge/build up attached to the drain bolt.
