1999 cl overheating???
hey guys. I have a 99 cl 2.3 and the temp gauge says that the car is running hot. It sometimes runs hot (the highest it can go)when i am driving it but mostly when the car is parked and running. The temp gauge fluctuates alot. I replaced the radiator but that did nothing. I dont think the car is overheating because it runs fine. Someone told me that it is the temperature gauge sensor. I was thinking of changing the thermostat. Anyone have similiar problems or can anyone help?????

As d98clturbo said check your fans. Try turning on the AC and make sure both fans are turning, the AC condensor fan and the radiator fan. The radiator fan turns on in intervals, so check to see if the intervals are constant. If not, you're gonna have to get it changed.
My radiator fan acted up on me a few months ago and the car did like you said. It heated when in park or idle, but not when driving because you have the flow of air coming in. So when still, the fans don't run and you don't have air movement and therefore the car overheats.
I prolonged the use of the old fan for about a week by taking a metal bar of some sort and just tap the fan until it starts spinning again. A little ghetto but it worked for the time.
Hope this helps you, but after pondering about it even more, it's definitely the fan.

I not sure exactly how the fan works, but I know everytime i shut the car off the fan comes on for like 5-10 minutes. Is there two different fans? Maybe only one works. Also, the needle goes all the way up. How do i check the connection on the thermostat?? Does anyone know anything about the sensor???

I had that problem when I first got my car, the temp gauge would be at normal temp one second, and then overheating the next.....After looking around for a while, I couldnt find the problem at all except the radiator wasnt fill up to the tippy top! I filled it up to the top till it overflowed some and put the cap back on. Havent had a problem sense. It is isnt the water level, replace the thermostat.
