Question 1998 Acura 3.0 CL Engine Swap Questions

So my head gasket blew yesterday, car is overheating like crazy, no water in the oil, running rougher than I like and I've come to the conclusion only way out is an engine swap.

Does anyone recommend anything I can find used that will outperform the stock 3.0 engine, I found a post online mentioning a 2002 RL 3.5 into an CL and I really don't know that much I was hoping anyone reading this could offer some input. Thanks!

Why would you think the only way out is an engine swap? Did you do a compression test? Leakdown test? Even a coolant system pressure test? I'd make sure the head gaskets were blown before you jump to conclusions. And even if they were, you'd still be able to fix it for cheaper than an engine swap

J32 or J35 are good options for a swap, not easy or cheap, but both will mount. However, I would confirm that the engine is dead like dainf said

Based on the 2 mechanics I've had look at it, both of them said the gaskets are probably fucked, the gasket is about half the cost to repair than the engine, but is also more work, plus the mileage on the engine is already at 169,000 and I can get the same exact motor I had with half the mileage for less than $400.

What else should I test if the car is running really hot really quick? Cooling system? It's not leaking, it was, a hose was replaced but I'm pretty sure I burned the engine out as I ran out of coolant completely after the hose burst.

Have you checked your thermostat to see if that was the cause to your overheating?

How hot did the engine get as it stayed running without coolant? (and for how long)

You can swap any J series but the J37 into the 3.0cl.

Actualy if you want the bang for your buck pick up a J32A2 out of the 2001-2003 cl or tl type s. You will have to get the rear cam notched for the distributor and you will have to run the J30 fuel rails. Other then cutting the small bracing on the bottom of the hood its a straight swap from what ive seen.

I have a J32A2 sitting on the engine stand im gonna be swapping into my 3.0CL soon
