1998 3.0 auto tranny question
I'm considering buying a '98 with about 60K miles. Were the first gen cl's plagued with tranny problems? The transmission forum seems to be full of threads affecting those with '01's - new ones. Just wondering if I should be weary.
Thanks

There seems to be a "fair share" of tranny failure on the 1st Gen CL's ('97-'99), but nothing like the 2nd gens ('01-'03).
I highly recommend putting on a transmission cooler as soon as you can. Even if you don't plan to mod your engine or push the engine hard, having your tranny run cooler may double it's life.
The install is pretty easy, and it's pretty inexpensive. Here's how to do it: http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...threadid=73356
BTW: Welcome!

I've been one of the unfortunate to replace my tranny. I've got a 97' and I replaced it at around 55K miles. The dealer I bought it from replace it for me though cause I notice something wrong when I bought it at about 50K miles.
Just be sure you drive the car with the engine cold. If it misses any gears, ususally 2nd, or shifts extremely wierd, then its probabaly going to need replacement. If it drives fine cold, I wouldn't worry about it.
