1997 3.0CL Shifting???
1997 3.0CL Shifting???
When the engine is cold, the car acts up. Like when i start it in the morning, I put it from park into drive or reverse and it takes about a second and a half after I already shifted it. Then the car jerks a little and goes into gear. Then, when im driving, the car slips into each gear at a high rpm. When it does shift, its rough and jolting. And then when i stop, it seems to jump. What could it be? I just had all the fluids changed not long ago and when the engine is warm, all of this goes away and its back to normal. People say its not the transmission, but the EGR valve or the MAF. Has anyone else had this problem and what do i do???

Now is the time to sell your car before your tranny craps out on you leaving with a $1k plus repair bill. Make sure you warm the car up before the test drive and your golden. No I'm kidding that wouldn't be nice.

well depending how cold it is, the car decides how it will shift depending on thermostat, TPS, VSS and intake mainfold vacuum pressure differences etc. Allowing your car to warm up properly will allow it to shift properly (like 5mins with easy driving etc)...i have the same car 97 3.0 and after a good warm up it shift real nice. I am gonna replace the thermostat when it warms up a bit and that will help with shift points and smoothness blah blah.
If you describe the issues furhter indepth, i could prob help you with specific issues. Although what others say does not necessarily mean you tranny is about to die...there are many other issues to consider before a tranny takes a dump.

tranny problems usually start with cold starts, however you can have your egr cleaned
