1200-2500 rpm fluctuation at idle
Has this ever happened to anyone?
After driving about 30 mi through twisty mountain roads in 3rd gear, average speed 50-55. I got into town and the engine was revving sporadically. Like it was surging the car forward when I had my foot on the brakes. I stopped at a gas station and put it in park, and the engine was automatically revving itself between 1200-2500 rpm in a continuous cycle. Like if you were revving your car getting ready to race. So I turned off the engine and restarted. It stopped....... What would cause that in the first place?

whoa.... that's pretty weird. Is that the first and only time your car has done that? If it is then I wouldn't worry about it. It could have been one of your sensors acting up after being in a high altitude and then dropping in altitude. Maybe an oxygen sensor. That could explain why it stopped when you turned your car off and then restarted it. I wouldn't be too worried about it unless it does that again. Course, I'm not an acura certified mechanic...... but maybe that's a good thing because they'd probably charge you 80 bucks to tell you the same thing I just did....lol. Nothing personal against them, I take my car to the dealership for all my repairs, they’re just so expensive. Anyway, like I said don’t worry about it, but in the event that it does act like that again I would have it looked at. Bad sensors can really mess up your car. And it’s so damn sexy, we wouldn’t want that… I’d cry as I’m sure you would too.

Yeah...first time ever.
I should also add that this was after a camping trip. Friday it rained pretty hard as I was getting to the campsite, and it was parked till Sunday afternoon when we left. It hasn't done anything like it since.

yeha that was happening to my friend with a prelude, it has the idle control. its on the intake manifold, there should be a sensor and there should be a hose thats connects to it . check to see if that hose is still there ifd not thats most likly your problem

in the morning your car idles higher cuz its cold then the fluid heats up the sensor and the idle drops..
the hose that you need to look for is on the same side as the distributor right below the throttle body...ill try to find a pic to show you where i am talking about
