What to watch out for?

Hi everyone, long time member over at the 3G TL forums, about to hopefully be over here as well!

Someone recently slammed into the back of our Sequoia, which is 12 years old and 300,000 miles. Naturally, my mom wants to upgrade. We're going to check out a few 07/08 MDXs later today, so is there anything that we should know? I'll be checking for the 105k service, but is there anything else? For example, I know the 04-06 TL had it's share of transmission problems. Will that be a big issue here? I've heard great things about the MDX but I'm not as familiar with it like I am with the TL.

Thanks, guys. Love all the help that comes from this site.

The Sport version has electronic shocks that cost $4500 to replace.
If you hear any thumping, knocking, or bumping noise it's probably the shocks, as they are usually replaced at 35,000 miles.

2007 or 2008 tech with power liftgate. I barely use the rear entertainment pack but the sport model is pretty nice. I love the shocks but hate the price tag to replace them soon! Also make sure the bushings and tie rods are good on the front end.

Check the ATF and make sure it's redish pink. Check the oil level and make sure it's not burning any oil. Use 5W-20 even though acura says 0W-20 is fine.

Make sure the MDX you are buying has good brakes and tires. Easy to check while driving and look at tire wear and ratings on tirerack.com.

Make sure none of the LED's are burnt out in the tail-lights, no condensation in the front lights.

Check the shocks as mentioned above.
