Several sites are reporting that Acura will be coming out with a V8 in the next 18months, and the MDX is a likely target for it.

If a V8 does come, my hope is that Acura mirrors other luxury brands and offers the V8 as an option. Other than the '09 TL with the 3.5/3.7, as we know, Acura usually offers one engine choice with different packages (sport/tech) serving as the available options.

In the case of the MDX, we use our SUV for Home Depot runs and carrying the family (third row really comes in handy). The 3.5L V6 serves us well for these type of duties. I would ventue a guess that the 3.5/3.7 works for the majority of MDX owners as well. Were I towing a boat or needed more grunt for off-road or heavier duties, in lieu of buying a Tahoe (which is probably the route I would go if I required heavier towing), a V8 option on the MDX would be nice.

If it is indeed one engine choice, perhaps the V8 will be a hybrid with V6 efficiency and V8 power when needed.
