Thinking about going from 03 TL-S to 11-13 MDX

Absolutely LOVE my TLS. I'm so happy to have found this forum and see others who do too! I can't make people understand the hard time I'm having with my decision to move up. All they see is a 12yr old car with oxidized paint but I feel my love from the inside of my car. I know that car like the back of my hand. ANYWAY, I have a child now and it's just time for a bigger (safer?) vehicle. Sports, road trips, friends, etc. My daily commute is only 5 mi each way but I read these are even more costly on gas than my TL-S.
Input or thoughts on what package or what I should look for/compare when shopping? I want an SUV, definitely want AWD, and I think the only way to jump vehicle styles is to stay in the Acura family. It will make me feel most comfortable I think.
(Previously had a 93 and 98 integra)

There is some overlap with the mileage/tech with the $18,000 to $38,000 range for the 11-13 MDX like:
- 10-12 RDX
- 13-15 RDX
- 14-15 MDX

I like to purchase a used Acura with some of the basic warranty and after a MMC if possible because of updated styling, tech, and reliability. I went from a TSX to RDX and it was an welcome addition to the family. We only had one kid living at home and the RDX was just fine for around town and road trips (longest from NM to Cali for 2-weeks, added roof cargo carrier). We had to upgrade to the MDX once the kid got to high school (and taller) and track/travel became the norm almost year round.

The MDX is several levels above the RDX as a hwy traveler. The RDX is my weapon of choice for a commuter vehicle, errands, and having all out fun behind the wheel. I would test drive all four if they are in the same price range you are willing to pay.

I had a 02 TL-S which I liked everything about it except the transmission which was replace once under warranty and then traded it on a 08 TL-S when the 90k transmission warranty ran out. My wife has a 13 MDX, which we really like. It drives more like a car than the '06 Pilot she had before. The only downside to the MDX is the gas mileage which averages ~18-19 mpg. My 08 TLS averages around 22-24 mpg. The Tech package on the MDX is the most common. We stayed away from the Advanced due to the higher cost and the expense of the magnetic shocks which costs about $3k to replace and from the forum they do seem to go out earlier than regular shocks. The MDX has been extremely reliable.
