I just wanted to post my most recent email from Mark (my contact at the manufacturer) to assure everyone that ride comfort is of the utmost importance. This is not some west coast customs company that just slams rides for the looks.
Chris,
We would love to hear what everyone wants. The springs work best with a dual rate. That is how we acheive the "softness" of the ride and why it is important to have the vehicle for road testing. We do lots of road testing and tweaking until we are 100% satisfied with the ride quality and how it handles or feels on bumps, potholes, bridge joints, railroad crossings, etc. During this process we determine the best configuration of the spring to acheive the results that we are looking for. I hope that answers your questions.

You are not able to receive PM's at this time. If you can, please enable PM's from your account options screen.
Or just let me know where you are located, so I know if you would be willing or able to supply your MDX for the development and testing of the springs.

I think a drop of 1.8 front and 1.6 rear would be sufficient. But I would definitely consider stiffening the rear springs a bit more than the fronts to compensate for passenger and cargo loads. So for instance if we increase the front spring rate by 15%. We should increase the rears by 20%.

Here's the link for SPC Camber bolts for the MDX. http://www.spcalignment.com/ just do a search for the MDX.

It has been confirmed that the person who puts up their car for testing/development of the springs will receive a free set of the springs for their trouble. I have sent out the pm's with the information for the company (they are located in Baltimore), but I have not received a confirmation from anyone that they can provide the vehicle.
Note: We need at least 5 paying customers to make this happen.

Paclark01 has volunteered his 2004 MDX! free set for you
I will be posting here and sending out a new round of pm's with details about payment as soon as I receive a response from my contact at the manufacturer.
Assuming a staggered drop between 1.5 and 2.5 inches, using a dual rate spring that makes ride comfort a top priority.... I'd like to make sure we have 5 people committed to buying before we send Paclark01 to drop off his car.
No payment at this time, and of course, final details about the specs will be given after the springs are tested and produced. More pm's coming soon....

Can we as a group decide on how much of a drop we are doing prior to committing to buy. I can easily commit if we set a smaller range of drop. 1.5-2.5" range is a bit much. Can we all agree to say 1.8-2.2"? I don't want to slam my X and still want decent ground clearance for the snow, and comfortable ride (like you have already mentioned), and a minor increase in handling.
This is great, hopefully it'll work out for us all!

Unfortunately due to recent circumstances I cant pledge myself for a set just yet, but I wanted to confirm that this is for 2001-2006 MDXs so I can update the thread title to diffuse any confusion regarding generation.

Does anyone know how different the suspension is for the newer generation? It looks like we'll be using a 2004 for development, but I don't know how easily the springs could be adapted for the later model years. Then again, they already look lower to me anyway. I'm just not familiar with the newer ones.

They said the best time for you to bring your car in will be the end of August or beginning of September. So we have until then to get some firm answers.

That being said, I think he has a very good understanding of what everyone is looking for. Barring any really weird things going on underneath our chassis, I think we'll end up with something in the middle part of that range, like what you noted here.

all ive been thinking about is dropping my whip, can't wait to do it!!!
Question on the test car that they are gonna be using, does it have stock rims on it or 20's? I've got 20's and I don't want them to rub!

Ccannizz11 thanks for the explanation and due to the research portion I now understand the range you gave. Djblast makes a great point about larger wheels and not rubbing. Hopefully the person who is volunteering his X has 20's or larger than oem wheels.

The MDX currently has OEM wheels, with Goodyear Integrity tires. If R&D is taking place the MDX must be at factory specifications. The main concern I have is the driveshaft angles and not clearance for 20" plus wheels regardless of the drop with springs since I will put my 19" Acura wheels back on once lowered.

Ccannizz, can you start a thread on mdxers.org to see if others are interested in this.

I'll look into it this weekend.
I think we have more than 4" of clearance to work with between the bottom of the fender lip and the top of the tire, so 20's shouldn't be a problem with this drop, should they? The overall diameter with the tire mounted should not be that different from stock (read: less than 3% difference). Otherwise you run into various other problems that are much worse than rubbing the fender. So I don't foresee a problem unless you have some crazy offsets.

Djblast, those wheels look great and it'll look sick with a drop. I agree with you that we should drop at most 1.8". Have any more pics of the X in those wheels? Pm me so we can stay on topic in this thread. Thanks.

We still need 2 more people to confirm their interest in buying a set. Remember, we need 5 paying customers. Paclark is getting a complimentary set for putting up his vehicle.

Even if paclark01 pays for his, we still need one more person.
I'll start a thread on mdxers.org, refer them to this thread, and see if we can't get a few more interested.

Three Wheelin'
First gen architecture and suspension was the basis building blocks for the Honda Ridgeline... Does anyone know if the springs can be utilized on current generation Ridgeline?
If so - you have a buyer.

Deaded.
If those 2 issues do not deter you, I would be happy to give you the contact information for the spring manufacturer I was talking to. Just pm me.
But as far as I'm concerned, this isn't happening.
- During my discussions with an Acura Lead Master Technician, it was determined that there is no wiggle room on the MDX to lower the car without modification to keep camber within spec. Adding lowering springs would require a camber kit, which almost doubles the cost from what I posted in the OP.
- When it came down to it, we couldn't get enough to commit to buying. And I don't have the time any more to round everyone up and handle the communication in every direction.

hi there i'm new to this forum and i joined just because of this thread. im really interested in this mainly because there is a camber kit out and it costs about $100 for the complete setup which is perfect. and i work for honda and i have some buddy's who are acura master techs and according to them this camber kit will work perfectly if you could pm the info i'll see if i can round up everyone and get this going! thanks alot....also for anyone wondering here's another way to lower your mdx it's not proper but would work without damaging your ride, get H&R Honda Odessey spring with matching year to your mdx, from what i've been told and seen these aftermarket springs line up and fit perfectly with the ride and will lower the mdx about 1.2" front and back without messing with the rear wheel's camber (which is mostly affected)

hey what's guys im new too. I've got a black mdx on 22" black wheels and very very very ready to lower it. I don't care about rubbing, I already rub on turns. Im willing to drop 2 grand on a set up. Im on the east cost also (ri) but damn i wish i was close to that shop. can this thread be revived?
