Having just installed them, I can tell you the uninstall would be pretty simple but you'd need new trim pieces. They are all cut to accommodate the brackets for the rack. We installed ours mainly for family vacations - we have 3 kids and utilize one of the third row seats, so we use a travel top for extra luggage.

Yes, as well as additional clips depending on how many you have left on your cut trim pieces. I know we scrapped most of our clips since the install only calls for one clip per cut trim piece. Other than that it is a simple unbolt and removal. You'll need a T-30 Torx (star looking head) for the bolts, although the OP mentioned he simply used a flathead. I had the Torx tool and I feel like it made it a good deal easier, at least on the install.

It's all personal taste. When we had our MDX, it had the roof rails as well as the running boards. Whenever we see MDXs on the street without them, they look "naked." to us.

This is my first project lined up for the spring. A little nervous because I don't have a ton of experience doing stuff like this and I treat my MDX like my child.
