New Xer. TPMS Error
Hey guys. Just picked up a new daily for the wife. 08 MDX w. tech package 132k miles. I just picked it up from the shop doing all scheduled maintenance including timing belt kit. However, my mechanic wasnt able to communicate with the TPMS computer with his TPMS diagnostic tool. I went to Tires Plus and they said the same thing. So Im assuming bad computer. They both suggested I go see the dealer. I got a great deal on this thing and the dealer would ruin that. I have searched but I cant find much on where to buy a computer and what the process is to replace it. I found a bunch on trouble shooting and sensors. Any help on where to start with this thing would be much appreciated. It is very annoying to drive as the warning alarm goes off every 5 seconds or so.

I think my situation is also different from what Im reading as the alert and chime doesnt go away. Its as if its disconnecting and reconnecting every few seconds but I also dont see any readings on the Dash as others say they do.

I spoke to the Tech and he informed me that sensors were operating as he received information from all 4. He said that when he hooked up the computer to read it he couldnt get anything from the module and that he thought that was the culprit. He said it could be the receivers that communicate with the sensors but what are the chances of all 4 going bad? Being that he couldnt communicate with the module and the sensors test good, Im willing to bet module. He said this was specialty work and he couldnt do it. Does anyone have any tips on replacing the module itself and where to get one.

My 07-09 Electrical service Manual pgs. 85, 85-1, 85-2 shows 3 different fuses, associated with the TPMS.
Not likely would it be the gauge fuse that is "under-dash Fuse/relay box" #7=10A , it lights up the gauges.
For the TPMS Control Module, there are 2 fuses, also "under-dash fuse/relay box" #1=7.5A & #21=7.5A
The TPMS module appears to be 1" thick and 3" x 4" and rectangular shaped.
It's under the left side (driver's) dash.
It's not (vertical) on the side, but more where your left knee would be, under/above (horizontal) the steering shaft.
Find its 20 pin gray connector and make sure it's snapped in to place. The photo shows it clearly and it's not behind anything.
The ground screw G401, for the TPMS module, is behind the passenger's foot kick panel. The photo #31 shows only one ground point, so you might make sure it's tight and not corroded.
If you decide that it's the module, call some junk yards and find one.
Drive to junk yard and they'll let you pull theirs out and try it in your car, to be sure it works.
