I just began researching the possibility of putting a new stereo into my Acura MDX 2002. The new systems have a lot more options that my old factory system. I found some interesting systems on crutchfield.com. Ever system I picked had the following notes.

◦The factory navigation system will be lost if radio is replaced.
◦You'll lose the factory Video Entertainment feature if you replace the factory radio.

I don't have a video entertainment feature, but I DO have the factory navigation system. The A/C, fan and trip computer also displays on the navigation screen.

Is there any way to put in a new system and not lose the navigation system?
If NO, then this is a show stopper for me.

If I did get a system that has navigation built in, I would be afraid of losing the A/C and trip computer as well.

Did you ever find any answers? I just (today) bought from a friend, a 2002 MDX and it does not have navigation or MP3, or bluetooth - so I would like to upgrade the electronics. Somewhere I found something on the net that said NOTHING aftermarket will physically fit into the 2002 MDX. Do you know if this is true, have you found options that will fit?

I have an '03 non bose without Nav and I installed a DD pioneer receiver. Very easy install. Looks good, sounds much better than the factory radio and has the features I wanted like hands free calling, bluetooth streaming, Ipod control etc. I didn't purchase the adapter to keep steering wheel controls but you can do that as well.

Hello, I recently purchased a 02 acura mdx with navi and the screen has went black, I can still press buttons for the heat and air controls because I remember where the buttons are. It has been working fine since I purchased it BUT the other day when I crank the car up, the screen never came on. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have the same problem on my 2001 MDX. Just bought this MDX with the blank Nav. screen , radio is working fine . I pulled the radio/ nav screen , DVD out and checked. Dvd will eject and reload disc. All wiring p/j look good.I notice the Screen had been replaced before due to the ser. number did not match with the security code card that came w/ the car. My questions are :what can be the problem with the completely blank / black display? will the original security code work with the original DVD player / and a replaced Screen?

I was getting the same message about replacing the stereo. I’d like to replace mine bcas the fm transmitter I got has sub standard sound. I’m taking my MDX to an audio shop this week to see what they suggest. I’ll post back when I hear.
