New member/Just Purchased 2011 MDX
Excuse the silly questions, I just purchased a 2011 MDX technology pkg and wanted to know what exactly is AcuraLink and what advantages are there with having this? I noticed some of the choices didn't work when I tried them). Also if you pay for acuraLink is there a reminder for the maintenance from the dealers? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I just don't understand the whole acuralink thing. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions in advance.

The Acura link is a failed experiment. There are details of its failure on this forum but you will need a phone with data and a few other items of a technical nature and it accomplishes nothing.
The maintenance minder in the MID always works and it will warn you when you require servicing. The extent of the service will be encrypted into letters and numerals which can be decoded by checking in your manual.

It supposedly "calls" Acura or your dealer, when there is a problem with your vehicle. Problem is, the protocol it uses is not supported by most phones (as I understand it).
Ford's equivalent works great. Go figure.
