New MDX Owner - Need New All Season Tires - What to get?

Hi Everyone,

LONG time Acura fan, on my 3rd TL now and just traded in my '07 Murano for an '07 MDX Tech - Got a steal of a deal on it too as my brother in laws family owns the dealership.

Got an '07 with 94K KM's (about 59K Miles) Tech package for $23K CDN - Not too shabby I don't think!

Now here's my issue - I need new all seasons on it. I WANTED the Fortera TripleTred's - I've heard some good things about them as well as it seems to be the only all season that rated for snow as well (has the snowflake on it).

Only problem is - I can't find ANY stock ANY where! None of the Online US companies that ship to Canada have stock, no one in Canada, wholesaler or retailer have it in the 255/55/18's I need.

What is a good second choice? I want something that gonna give me a decently quiet ride and had solid winter snow grip. I'd like to try to stay away from separate tire packages for winter if possible.

Any snow drivers advice on which brands and models have served them well/which to stay away from would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,

Deep

Michelin Lattitude Tour HP H rated? I just put 245/65/17 Michelin LTX M/S's on mine today. Best tire ever!

Try these

Last year I put General Grabber HPs on my 2007 MDX Tech Sport. Bought them through Tire Rack which highly recommended them. The ride's a little harsh - make sure your tire pressures are at least 32 lbs. and you'll probably want to ride in "comfort" mode if you've got the Sport package especially with all the potholes.

They're reasonable good in snow (this is second winter on them; they've got about 20K but still made it through the recent snows in NJ with class), great in rain, drawbacks are harshness and a little more noise.

MPG dropped about 5-10% (1-2 mpg) but then I also put on my Thule ski rack. [It's the same as the one that Acura sells but clamps on instead of requiring cutting the rubber strips in the crossbars.]

Hard to get a true benchmark with the winter grade gas here containing MTBE and ethanol but I'd say the mileage is lower overall than with the OEM Michelins.

Just bought some firestone destination ST's - Going on the MDX on monday - Reviews seem good and the dealer I bought them from is a long time business partner of my brother in law. He says he's had very good reaction to them. Heck - for $850 all in, taxes, installed, etc, not a shabby price either...

I think the extra couple of hundred bucks are worth it on the Michelins or even the Bridgestone Alenza's. I guess I have to say that I am a huge Michelin fan and would rather have them on all of my vehicles. just my $.02.

Problem is that the Alenza aren't available and the Michelin are over $400 more expensive for the set, and I've been reading alot of mixed reviews on the michelin's...

Deep,

Where are you located? At one of my stores we have a set of Alenza's.

Get the Nokia WRG2. It is a winter tire with an all season compound that can be used all year round. It is classified as an all weather tire:
