Need help with 2007 MDX Reliability

I am a newbie to this. Was told to come check this forum out for info. Please help! Am needing some urgent information on 2007 Acura MDX purchase. I am needing to make a decision quickly on purchasing a 2007 MDX. I have looked through multiple forums but have just become confused. The 2007 MDX is a single owner and has 100,000 miles, was switched over to synthetic fluid at 10k (oil, tranny, etc. Rear diff is Honda fluid). Oil changed regularly, drive train every 30k miles. I'm very concerned about the Torque Converter shudder that is talked about frequently. This MDX was listed in the TSB for 2007-2009. Owner said he has never felt the shudder but after receiving the letter took it into the dealer and had the software update. Says that has never felt the shudder before or after the update. Timing Belt/water pump done at 65,000. Is the potential Torque Converter issue significant enough to warrant walking away from 2007 MDX all together? Does the software update fix/prevent Torque Converter issues? How common are catastrophic failures with these? Have called a couple of dealers and am getting mixed messages. Not sure what to do. I am needing to get a reliable vehicle that will last 100k more miles. Please help.

Forget reading forums and just take the car to get it inspected via Pre-Purchase-Inspection.
a mechanic will lift the car and check EVERYTHING for your peace of mind. While at the mechanic, inquire about the Torque converter shudder and ask him if the car in question has this shudder

I also learned that anything you do in haste will result in POOR results.
there are hundreds of thousands of this SAME vehicle...if you are in a hurry, you will get a sour deal.

We had an 07 MDX and had the TC replaced twice under warranty. The shudder is real but can't say if every 2007 MDX is going to have this problem. Take it out for a ride and get it up to approx 40-45 MPH so the transmission is in 5th gear. Let your speed drop off a bit and press down on the accelerator as if you are going to add back some speed - but not quickly. What we experienced at this point was the TC would hold the gear, start to shudder and not downshift until you got into the accelerator. Then the tranny would downshift and you would pick up speed very quickly. I don't remember having this issue in other gears and I guess some of this will depend on the type of driving you will be doing (highway vs. city vs. back roads). The Mrs LOVED the MDX, I'm just glad we had purchased the extended warranty, which paid for itself handsomely.

***edit - we never had a catastrophic failure and the TC issue had nothing to do with our trading it in.

Well its not a known problem after all.. The TC issues are late 1G MDX related (05-06) some 07 MDX supposedly had some TC fail but not to the extreme extent of the 1G...
