Looking to buy my first MDX
Hello,
I'm interested in 2007-2008 Acura MDX for a second vehicle that I won't be using for work. i live in the country, so city driving won't be a ton, but I'm mainly going to use for weekend and leisure. I need more room for my boys and want something reliable with comfort and safety.
The vehicles im looking at have anywhere from 95-115k miles in them. Are there any major issues I should be aware of or any opinions? The other vehicles in mind are Cadillac SRX or Ford Edge.
thank you

1st...Ford started putting larger brakes on their 2011 and newer Edges.
MDXes with that many miles are due for a timing belt, which ranges from $1,100 to 1,800.
MDX sport has electronic shocks (ADS) that are prone to go out around 35,000 miles and cost $2,800 just in parts.
The Bluetooth is Okay for voice phone calls only, but many have disconnected the Bluetooth module, because it drains the battery.
The tailgate is horribly low, when fully open. If you're 5'8" you'll bump your head.
The backup lighting is worthless.
15 mpg city and 20 hwy is the MPG rating and you should get that if you aren't a teenager.

I guess it depends on the angle? perhaps something different between the power tailgate and non-power tailgate? I can stand below the tailgate door without hitting the plastic trim in flat ground.

Is yours non-powered? Mine was the Elite model so it was powered. It did not open high enough at all. Even when I tried to push it up a little to see if maybe the struts were failing it was at the max. Many times I would be at the Gym getting my gym bag from the hatch and if I forgot to duck or tried standing up I would hit my head.

Nope it is Powered, But like I said I can stand below the tailgate door with no problems and I am 5,9".
EDIT: Yeah I actually went on and even with my Timberland working shoes I fit below the Tailgate, There are at least 2 inches to spare.

Lmao I wear timberlands too with a heel support insole so I am about 2" taller than you normally and then add the roughly 2" for the shoes and I can see why I hit my head haha.

I have an 08 MDX. It seems like 2 other faulty items are fairly common-make sure the CD changer loads, plays, & ejects CDs-don't just turn the radio on and assume the rest of it works right. Also make sure the Nav system accurately & correctly follows & shows where you are. The one we bought the Nav just shows the area you're in but is slow to update & freezes up for bit before it updates.
