You might have too many phones paired to the MDX? I think 5 or 6 is the max and who knows how many phones are in there being a 05 MDX. I would delete all paired phones and try again. If still nothing, maybe the hands-free module isn't working correctly?

I don't know the voice commands for pairing the phones for the 05 MDX. There was a voice command to "list phone" or "list" for my 06 TSX/08 RDX and it repeated back all paired phones using the name in the owner's voice what the paired phone was called. When I added my iPhone 6S Plus to my TSX, I still had my wife's old Motorola RAZR phone from 2006 still in there. Then I think I used the "delete phone" to clear out any old pairings. At least you will start the pairing with a clear memory.

It could also just be the iPhone software level not talking to the +12 year old bluetooth module. Might have to wait until the next phone software update or give another bluetooth phone a try to make sure it isn't just a bad MDX handsfree module.
