Installing Intake Manifold Spacer into J37A1??
To all J modder gurus out there...
Just wondering if anyone has tried to fit the J35A3 Intake Manifold Spacer into our J37A1? I noticed there is no spacer in the J37 Manifold so I am assuming here that Acura thought the 3.7L would make enough low end torque to not need it.. In any case I have one that I never installed into my J32A2 (Hood clearance) with OEM Hardware and was thinking about installing it into the MDX which has room to spare when I do my Valve Adjustment as a Bonus. Since it will require an extra manifold gasket just wanna hear if its possible or not??
Thanks guys!

Crabman I sincerely do not know if the spacer was used on the 2nd Gen J35A3 (Single Port Exhaust), I know the older (3 Port Exhaust) J35A3 used them..
The J37A1 uses a Single Port Exhaust on the 2G MDX.
Excelerate
I noticed the P2R is made for those with low clearance hoods but in any case I was thinking about using my Existing OEM J35A3 Spacer that I already have
To not spend more money but to get the extra gasket (Probably the P2R thermal gasket).

I see no reason why it wouldn't work. Folks have been bolting the J37 manifold to various J series engines without issues so the spacer shouldn't be any different on your MDX.
High RPM will take a hit but you'll def enjoy the low end. I'm currently running my old J35A3 spacer on my J35A8 with no issue plus a J37 manifold to top it off.

I managed to get it all the hoses & connectors to work but it is a stretch. The spacer is a solid 1.5".
As for the intake pipe, if yours is in good condition you shouldn't have an issue. Mine was old/dried up & cracked shortly after.

I will try to salvage the vacuum lines out of wreck 1G MDX they seem to be longer in order to fit the higher manifold into the front PCV line in the valve cover. When I bought the spacer I didn´t have them in mind since it was for my J32 and that does not have a front vacuum line. I remember seeing a 4G TL with a 3.7L as well so I will try to fetch the Manifold from there (The MDX manifold has a raw finish and no "A" in the upper cover of the manifold) so I can ditch the plastic engine cover as well since it will not reach the front latch points after the spacer is installed.
Thanks for the help man!

My Idea is to get the MDX engine to look like this (Minus the tons of plastic engine bay covers):
Right now it looks like this:
Without the cover the manifold is this ugly thing:

That's a good call on the 1G MDX hoses.
As for the TL 3.7 manifold, you might as well get the 80mm TB to match.. ..but you won't be able to use your stock intake pipe. Someone say intake mod?

The 4G TL Manifold is a stretch considering its basically the same thing I have now but "Prettier" so its a good money thrown in for just LOOKS...

AUTO I believe it was a 2012 model, SH-AWD of course. It had a good frontal wreck and its was already missing the awesome Wheels
Seemed like it had been there for quite a while since it was full of dust interior and exterior wise.. I was able to spot the Manifold from miles away hahahaha.

I have come across other 4G TLs but since the SH-AWD has the 3.7L I never look them that much, the FWD model also had a 6 speed manual version?
I can look them out for if they do.
Yeah I just need to schedule the thing since I want to do it with the Valve Adjustment I wanna make a DIY out of that...

The idea for the spacer came after the folks saw Acura put in on the MDX 3.7L to help produce low end torque... It already has one!
Thermal gaskets may help in conjunction with the factory spacer but in my opinion isn't worth the money. The largest gains are from the K-Tune with HFPC or Deletes and the J-pipe. Start with the pipes and go from there. If you want more power after that, a custom port and polish on IM, throttle body and intake runners may add a few HP.

^ I noticed my MDX with a 3.7L does not have a spacer at all, If I see it from where the P/S is the Manifold is directly on top of the Runners.. Not like the 1G MDX which has a thick spacer in between.

Thanks for the help man! when I eventually pull this off I will update this thread but I will create a new one anyway for the Valve Adjustment + Spacer Install.

So you have the RL, correct? J35A8? Its not too many people that talk about the RL setup. I have one and want to do IM/TB upgrade. I have the tl sh-awd throttle body so far. Ill get the matching IM. As far as the IM spacer, the one from the mdx is thicker and cheaper than the p2p spacer. Was that the one you used? Where did you get ur extended studs? Will the j35a8 top plate fit the tl sh-awd IM? Or do i need 2 buy a new plate/cover? Did you do the throttle body spacer too?
