Getting new tires for my 2011 MDX: Pirelli or Continental?
Hey, guys! I got a 2011 MDX with about 71K miles on it and need some all season tires. I drive about 50/50 Hwy/city roads. Go about 80mph on the highway
Looking for quiet/comfort/tread life. Should I go with
Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus - $172/tire + $70 Rebate
or
Continental Cross Contact LX 20 - $174/tire

My experience with Continental Cross Contact was pretty bad, on 2004 MDX. Worn way faster. One tire blow out on the inside sidewall for no reason while waiting for green light, and I had to pay to replace the 2nd one, because it has to be replaced in pair.

How fast are we talking about being worn out? Any experience with Pirellis?

They came new, with 11/32 tread depth. Now, they have 26,000 miles and 7/32 to 8/32 tread depth.
They replaced the OEM rims with 18" Mitchelin tires that have 5/32 to 6/32 tread depth. (In storage, rotting away).
The Michelins were noisy, probably because they weren't new anymore.
By the end of 2018, I'll know if my Scorpions are noisy or still quiet, like they are today.
I haven't run the tread depth down past 4/32, on any tire, since I was in college.

I have 40k miles on Cross Contact L20's that replaced the originals on my 2012 MDX Tech. They are now at about 6/32 and I'm getting ready for a new set. I really liked their handling and have had no problems, but they are now in the noisy stage. I have been a Continental fan for the last few sets, with my second set of ExtremeContact DWS's on my 2012 TL-SHAWD. I live in Northern California, with none of the daily cold winter issues except for the ski trips to Lake Tahoe.

I went with Hankook from Pepboys costed around 700-800 odd and comes with great warranty from Pepboys. Its been over a year and they are doing well.

So I called Discount Tire and the rep told me if I wait until this coming Friday. They will be having a sale of an additional $100 rebate off 4 Tires
I got quoted:
Michelin LTX - $971.68 installed + $100 Rebate = $871.68
Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus - $888 installed + $100 rebate + $70 manufacturer rebate = $ 718
Is that a good price for the Michelins?
