I mounted the ballast for my fogs, the drl modules, and the resistors as high as I could on some metal with some double sided 3M tape and wire ties.
The right side is a lot easier since there is more space to work with.

Are you happy with the color and brightness?

Hey all, just reading through this and I am curious...I did the upgrade to the v-leds 9005 bulb for my MDX's DRL bulbs..and did no resistor and no module and the color is fantastic and no warnings? The lights look fantastic...are others seeing issues in 2010's without using modules and resistors? i converted out all the interior lights to LEDs..and it looks great.

Sure I can take a pic or two. Pics of lights can be deceiving though by they look great especially with the matching 194 parking lights in the front. Just converted the rest of the ext lights to LEDs. All door lights, interior and trunk lights. I also added running board LED lights on the boards. They are my unique touch. Just dropped in 5k Hids in the fogs this morning. Will post pics this week when I can.

Actually I recently removed the DRL modules and resistors. I did notice a drop in lumens. The DRL modules housing fell apart, shorted, and blew my DRL fuse. If I had to do it again I would silicone the DRL module or put some electrical tape around it housing before installing it. After reviewing the housing I noticed that it was pretty filmy and only had 4 little dabs of silicone on each corner.

I replaced 1 bulb with the LED bulb and got the warning message so I wnt back to the incandesant. Should I have done both or am I missing something? (2010 MDX) I figured that I would need the resistors but you said that yours worked without the module or resistors.

well not sure what you all have but i put the LED's in with no other changes...no message from the car..and perfectly acceptable output from the DRLs...heck they look great. I only wish i got the 5K bulbs instead of 6K...then they would match my parking lights better.

If your using the same bulb we are then yes you need to replace both bulbs. I got the same result when I was installing them a while back.

Thank you - I'll try both bulbs but they are not the same bulb so I'll let you all know how it goes.

I changed both bulbs to the LED and got the message so back to incandesant. I guess I need the resistor?

I guess your using some other brand of LEDS? The LEDS I used were from V-Leds,

Yes my LED's are from a different manufacturer and I guessing that they do not draw enough current for the DRL sensing circuit so the solution would be to waste power through a load resistor.
Thanks for your help.

Hi guys, the LED lights look awesome!

Are the bulbs the same in the 07 MDX? (reverse lights, fog, daytime, and parking lights?)

I've been contemplating the change but I was afraid of melting the housing in some areas...

db22 - where did you get your LED's from?

They are still bright but not as effective in foggy situations (which are few where we live).

Here are the fogs and DRL's I bought. The fogs are the H11 bulbs and the DRL is the 9005 bulb.

I also replaced the footwell, cargo, and license plate lights.

In replacing the license plate lights, did you notice an improvement in the quality/visibility of the back-up camera at night?? I have been contemplating replacing the license plate lights and/or reverse lights to help get better visibility at night with the back up camera. Quality is quite poor and may be due to camera placement and OEM lighting. Thanks!!

Hey guys,

Just out of curiosity, can someone tell me the benefits of purchasing led's from V-led.com when they sell them for a fraction of the cost on ebay? Just wondering if the huge price gap is actually worth it? I'm looking to replace the parking light, drl, backup light.

Thanks.

As seen previously on this thread, I used LED's from superbright LED's and I get the error message. The V-led brand must have more resistance and they negate the message but, as you say, it's a high price to pay. There are numerous types that will illuminate with some a lot brighter than others but the system has to recognise that the bulb exists so an additional 6 ohm resistor with the cheaper bulb may be the way to go.

Hey guys,

I'm looking to replace my oem bulbs with led from v-led.com. Can someone tell me which specific leds they went with for the following application? I notice that they sell them in different shapes/size/lighting angles etc. Just want to be sure I'm getting the right one.

- license plate light
- door lights
- bottom of the door lights
- interior lights

I've also been doing a lot of reading and am still determining if I want to go with the led drl's since they're so expensive and on top of that sounds like you need the module, resistor, and maybe a relay harness just to get it to work right? I might just put in a 5000k filament bulb or something "easier."

Thanks!

Regarding replacing the license plate bulbs- what's the trick to releasing the black strip in the vicinity Of the back up camera?? I have removed all screws, replaced the driver's side bulb & removed the outer case over the camera. The camera is exposed and the black strip loose everywhere except in the immediate vicinity of the camera. What Kim of clips are holding that in? Is the camera unit connected to the black strip- so when I pull it down the camera will be hanging by a wire?? OR will the black strip come down around the camera, leaving the camera in place? I just don't want to break the camera to put in some cheap, albeit good looking, light bulbs... THANKS!!

Can you provide links or bulbs numbers for each bulb you replaced please? The links in this thread to v-leds.com and other site are all dead now...

Ultimately I want to swap out all interior lights, license plate, fog and DRL for 2009 mdx.

Thank you!
