Check CMBS system light on for Acura MDX 2013
hello everyone,
Need help with this message on my dash check CMBS system. Dealership wants $170 to diagnose the problem. I read on some old articles about this being an issue with some Acura models and a simple reset might fix it or a weak battery might cause this. Any suggestion on what do would be great. Thanks a lot community. Appreciate all the help and support. Thanks.

Was there any type of conditions that caused the "check CMBS" warning or did it just happened? The only time I've seen an error message on 11 MDX Adv was in winter time and the front sensor was covered in dark icy slush from hwy travel. My 08 RDX gets a check brake booster warning when the temps gets below 20 degrees; but, zero issue every other time above that temp limit.

Interestingly enough ive found a way (accidentally) to force the CBMS error to right itself. Like previews postings have mentioned, i get this error in the winter 2-3 times, and just in the past year and half.
With CBMS light on, the ACC still works but only in letting off the gas and not applying the brake. One day when using it with the CBMS light on and ACC set, a vehicle in front of me (not far, but relatively close) slowed down quickly. The ACC did as normal and let off the gas, then applied the brake. CBMS light when off and ACC/CBMS continues to operate as normal. This will not work if the vehicle ahead of you is far enough that letting off the gas will avoid the potential collision. CAUTION: Pay attention to the road, this isn't the end all be all for fixing this. Just a workaround until the system is updated
What i think is happening is that the ACC/CBMS system knows it's a software issue causing the error. CBMS inst going to not apply the brakes in a potential collision situation.

Just got the same "Check CMBS" light for the first time that wasn't because the sensor was covered on snow on my 11 MDX Adv. I pulled over and restarted the MDX and it hasn't returned in over a week of driving. Probably have Acura check it out on my next M.I.D. service (at 30% oil).
