Bought New 2009 MDX Sport!

Iam new to this site, i just bought the 2009 MDX sport, and i love it! Great driving , i have alot to learn about it though, but what seems to be a very common theme, no matter how expensive the car, it seems the interior parts, leather, plastic, dash, etc appear a little cheap. The steering wheel has this rough leather! for such an expensive car why cut corners on the leather and plastic quality? I also have a 2003 TL - the best quality leather ive seen in an interior - better than in my opinion the BMW. the 2003 has this dark rich looking leather seats, deep dark and soft leather steering wheel, dark soft dash and the plastic pieces are dark and not cheap looking. Why??? the new style TL also appear the same as well. I do love the interior of the MDX but i can easily see the differences in materials used. Another difference i notice is the 03 TL has a tigher, heavier handling compared to the new TL and even the MDX, its probably lighter steering components, etc...

Welcome to Acurazine Chevy...and congrats on the new MDX.

I also had a 2003 TL Type-S and in my opinion, the interior and leather quality was indeed superior to my 2006 MDX and my 2008 TSX. It was softer and definitely less prone to cracks.

Looks like Acura joined the BMW club of leather - thick and prone to cracks Regardless, enjoy the rest of your '09 MDX and put some pics up for us to enjoy...

Thanks for the welcome, ah pics, its dirty already! Thats the problem with Blk! i should of took pics as soon as i drove it home! I just dont understand why they cut corners like that? just to save a little money, IMO if you paying 40K for a car you should get the best quality materials and not small corners cut to save some money. That is really my only complaint about the car.

I have been disapointed with the leather in my 07 MDX as well. Really cracks alot... I am considering buying the SPORT cusshions and backs for the front seat only so that its the perf leather. My 08 TLS had that and i didn't get a single crack. I treated it with leather conditioner every week though too. I dont have the luxury of that this time because it was a used car...

Congrats on the purchase-and I completely agree with your leather evaluations- to be honest, and call it whatever it is...but my 97 Accord EX that looks GREAT still- the interior leather seems to be better than my 08 TL-S
