Any way to check 12V battery state/voltage??

Since my '10 MDXs battery does not have an "eye" to check the charge state is there a way using a hidden navi screen menu to check the voltage like I used to be able to do using the XM(HIP) in my other Acuras?

can't you just use a meter to check the terminal, it should be 12v without starting the car, and it should be like 14v when car is running (alternator is charging the battery) .. no?

Some local parts store will test your battery for free or lend you a tester. You can check the static and running voltage with a volt meter but you need a true battery tester for a load test.

Ditto on the meter and/or load test, but for a few bucks Acura could have provided us with a better battery with the "eye" on a $47K vehicle.

My 04 MDX has Navi and DVD. The car has slow drain/short but I can't find it. Every year I need to change the battery or if the car sits for a few weeks, the battery might need a jump...go figure.

I've had the electrical system tested twice ( I have a Milton tester) and I even used one of those new HONDA/Interstate dealer testers and everything comes out fine. Also no TSB or anything on a e-short from AHM. Maybe I have a rat living under my hood?

Supposedly the AHM OEM batteries have more plates than the batteries you would buy at the local parts store...but who knows.

Ever thought about the power required to remember everything that is remembered in the car? Not everything is in novram. Your car alarm also is a drain. Over a few weeks it can kill a battery.

Yes I did but I never thought that a week or two of sitting would kill the battery. I also thought the 04 had a auto shut down to save battery to start the car if the battery reached a certain low level....I guess I was wrong.

thanks for the post.

I agree with you, a couple of weeks has never killed my car but 6 weeks did.
