Advice on purchasing a 2013 MDX with 106k

Looking at purchasing a new Acura after my 03 TL was totaled by a gentleman who had a seizure behind the wheel and destroyed my back end. I'm hoping some of you will share your feedback on a 2013 MDX that I'm looking at from a local dealer.

It's a 2013 MDX with tech package and 106k miles. It's listed for 19,687. I'm hoping to get it for that price out the door with ttl included.

The dealer currently selling is the original dealer it was purchased from and all scheduled maintenance was completed at the dealer. It had the timing belt and water pump replaced 3 months ago. Overall the car is in great shape. The blue plastic wrap that was on the door jam covering the acura logo is still in place on all the doors. Woman who traded it in was an older woman - she walked off the lot with a $80k Audi so I have good reason to believe it was always taken care of. Which makes me feel better about the higher than average mileage.

Thoughts? I know to ask about the bluetooth function killing the battery. I'd love to go for a 2014 to get the next generation, but unfortunately that's out of my budget at the moment. I appreciate advice and feedback!

The bluetooth module drain issue seems to be mostly with the 07-09 MDX. The +10 MDXs have bluetooth audio streaming and that updated module doesn't seem to have the same issue. The issue with the 10-13 MDX is the hit/miss oil consumption issue because the cylinder sleeves are too soft causing oil to leak into the combustion chamber. I'm about 2/3 of a quart per 7500-8500 mile oil change interval for my 11 MDX; which, next to nothing for me at +105K. I could be as bad as 1qt per 800-1000 miles at its extreme. It might help to check the M.I.D. to see the oil change % and compare that to the current oil level to see if the oil level is down any. Most of use get around 750-850 miles per 10% drop in oil %. It doesn't sound like the previous owner was the type to checking the oil several times a month when driving AND keeping the MDX for +20,000 miles per year if it had the oil consumption issue.

Because of the predicted/known/expected oil consumption issues, you need to bargain hard and be willing to walk away or find yourself a 2007 - 09 MDX in the same mileage range.
Check www dot autotrader dot com for 2007 - 2009 MDXes, just to get an idea of what's 300 miles away from you.

The blackbook auction value, of the 2013 MDX Tech with 106,000 miles is $16,780 and that's after a $5,100 reduction, due to its high miles. Full retail is $20,475

Try the web site that my credit union uses, to tell me what the finance value, of used cars is.

www dot cudlautosmart dot com
Then click research
Then scroll down and click on blackbook

If you have a hard time getting to the site, try internet explorer, foxfire, or chrome. ie...another search engine.

I think that "CUDL" stands for Credit Union Dealer List
Now, compare Kellyblue book value and you'll do better against the salesman.

Remember, they're not junk, but 2010 - 2013 were not Acura's shinning years.
