SH-AWD code: 77 will pop off every time you have an issue with the Emission System and it will disable the AWD System, Seeing you got one.
It would be actually beneficial to all of us if we could know the CODE you got.......
I have the same thing going on. Took it to Advance Auto and had codes read. P0339 (crank angle position sensor) and 83-1 (engine control module). Do these crank angle sensors go bad often? I've had lots of Honda's and never had a problem with one.
That sensor is in the same area of the timing belt, Did you have the T-Belt replaced recently?
To answer your question nope, Those sensors rarely go bad. Even more that sensor that is directly behind the crankshaft timing belt pulley.
I just wanted to get back and let people know how I fixed this problem. I remembered reading on someones post a while ago that if the battery isn't that good strange things happen and a new battery took care of it. Its been bitterly cold here lately, and I had noticed that it wasn't cranking as fast as it use to. I thought I would try a good battery, and I just happened to have an almost new battery from a car I have stored for the winter laying around. It was almost an exact fit. Cleaned up the terminals on it and cleaned the cables, a little dielectric grease, and no more codes! It cranked faster, no more codes or warning lights, and it was an easy fix. The battery that was in it was the original one, so it didn't surprise me that it was dying. I'll leave the battery in there until spring when I need it for my Z and then get a new battery for the X. Glad it was an easy, simple fix.
Very weird that having a low battery voltage would trigger that specific code...
It would disable SH-AWD though as that works with high current electricity due tot the magnetic actuators but a P0339? Well hope that was the issue.
I haven't taken it back to see if there are any stored codes, but no warning lights or problems have come back. I haven't done the timing belt yet, that will be in spring if it ever warms up here.
I had this error and had my car repaired by Honda of Fife, WA. Full diagnostic was made and found that the ECU lost communication with vehicle control units. They cleared the codes, re-initialized the systems and test drove the vehicle. They also updated the PCM software. This cost me 65$ for the diagnostic. After driving for less than 3 miles, the error showed again in my dashboard. I went back and complained why. After more diagnostic, it was found that there was a misfire on cylinder number 2. They inspected and found number 2 coil pack faulty, and two of the spark plugs were burnt and corroded. They replace all six platinum spark plugs, coil (plug hole 30520-PVJ-A01), clear the code and test drive the vehicle. Total cost after tax is $433 after 20% discount.
