Question 2011 MDX - How to Hardwire dashcam?

I searched but couldn't find any thread on MDX and didnt want to refer to threads from other vehicles. Please advice on following

- Which Fuse in the driver side fuse box can be used?
- Information on any fuse kit that you know or have used in MDX for same.

Thanks

You can use the +12V lead out of the auto dimming rear view mirror.. Is pretty easy, I hardwired a GoPro charger that I use for dashcam from time to time.

I think that's already used by the Remote starter as that's where they have placed the antenna.

Yes, you will need converter from 12v to 5v. I will check on fuse tomorrow.

Most of the car electric system runs 12V that is why I recommended the USB Charger (Car charger) as it works on 12v and steps down to 5V USB nominal. That is how my GoPRO is mounted but if its already used by the OP remote starter I dunno how much amperage it can take after that...

I am looking at this install kit which has the converter.

Amazon Amazon

See the Fusebox layout below, I see 23 & 33 not in use but no Amperage on them

Which other existing can I use? Also need to check where can I attach ground wire

Use #9 Acc Socket or #3 Moonroof
Those are ON when the car is in Ignition and have a good amperage rating, But wont charge once the car is turned off.

If you want a constant voltage so it charges with the car off?
I believe #13 and #16 are always powered regardless of key position and they have excellent amperage rating.

I used #32. camera turns on with turn of the key and it will not drain your battery when you are away from your vehicle.

Skirmich suggested to use moon roof slot, it will work to but i wanted to keep my camera on when ignition off and listening to music etc.

The kit you found on amazon should work with no problems.

Good luck

Thanks, my dashcam is capacitor based but I prefer something with ignition, so will probably use #3

Look for a wire loom chassis wire.. The entire chassis is a big ground for EVERYTHING.
