2010 AWD Tire Experiences

I stopped by Discount Tire to have a nail removed/repaired in the replacement tire on my 2010 SH-AWD Tech w 75,000 Miles. About 29,000 miles ago I replaced the OEM Michelins with Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus (A/S +). I upsized 20mm from the stock size (235/60/18) to 255/55/18. I’ve had really good experience with these tires. Smooth rolling, quiet, same MPG, and good performance in dry Phoenix, Arizona summers as well as snowy (relatively speaking) Prescott, Arizona winters. I paid about $170 per tire about 3 years ago. Still have 6-7/32” of tread left, so I’ll get another year out of them. The sales manager who serviced my order mentioned he put same tires on his wife’s SUV. We both agreed the Scorpion Verde is a fine tire.

I hope this information is useful. I’m also interested in learning other users’ experience with replacements as I’ll be back in the market next Summer.

Have the Verde too and they are pretty decent tires! Way quieter than the Dunlop SP Sport Signatures I had but the trade off is some grip. In parking lots at low speeds they do tend to squeal when turning into a spot but that's not a big deal. Good choice!

On my 2010 MDX Advance, I replaced the original tires after 4.5 years (have to look back at the paperwork for mileage, but probably closer to 85k miles or so?) with another set of Michelin Latitude Tour HP 255/50R-19. Surprisingly the original tires still had a decent amount of tread left however the sidewalls started to crack (dry rot). The replacement Latitudes were changed out last year (after 3 years of use and approximately 55k miles) with Michelin Premier LTX XL 255/50R-19. So far I have about 7k miles on the Premier and I really like them over the Latitude. Performance in inclement weather is solid—this past winter, I didn’t have any issues (never had issues with A/S tires on the MDX in New York winter months). Tread wear seems pretty good so far. I don’t notice any road noise on highways. I even replaced the family minivan’s (Odyssey) original tires with the Premier early this summer and so far, it’s been really good. Let’s see how I feel about these tires with more wear in an year of two.

I've only had Bridgestone Dueler Alenza Plus tires after the original set of tires and remain impressed by their combination of durability, traction(water, snow, mud, or summertime in hot-houston streets), and quietness(when new, 2.5-3 seasons). I liked the original Michelins for quietness when they were new and as they aged and good as possible mpg's, but the traction(rain and snow) was downright dangerous.

Posting for others to search for recommendations as I did. Last year bought Continental Cross Continental LX20 and love them. Immediately did a 2K mile summer road trip out to the BadLands. Tons of highway 80+ mph loaded with 6 people and rear hitch rack. Super quiet. In winter had a few trips towing a couple snowmobiles in Wisconsin and Michigan through some of the worse winter condition in years - flawless on icy/snowy roads and pulled out of some deep parking lot snow that some were stuck in. This Springs Break another 2K miles down to Gatlinburg through the twisters mountain roads. Again, 6 people with rear hitch rack. Handled awesome, quiet as ever and great in rain as we drove through horrible downpours for 6 hours coming back through Indiana. These are the best tires I have had and they even have a sporty tread pattern to compliment the MDX looks.

I'm looking at the Continental cross contact LX20 as well for my 2007 MDX.

I've had Hankook Ventus and Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 before and I can't seem to get more than 35,000 miles on them. The Bridgestone's that are on there now have 34,000 miles and are down to 4/34 & 3/32.

Is the MDX AWD that aggressive on tires? I believe both of the above tires were rated 50,000- 60,000 miles. Not getting anywhere near that!
