04 MDX mods

Kind of embarrassing posting this since I have an 03 CLS 6 Speed heavily modded, but I just purchased an 04 MDX for my work suv and would like to do as many mods as possible NOT FOR SPEED but for better gas mileage. I have a ton of extra parts from my CL collecting dust including P2R Plenums. Just wondering what mods can be done to this MDX. They don't make headers for it, so I'm thinking p2r plenums, tb spacer, IM thermal gaskets, short ram intake, and possibly a custom exhaust. I'm getting 13 mpg in the city driving like a sloth, which is horrible.

nothing you do will really make a huge difference, sorry. a good tune up will be most beneficial for mpg probably.

replace the o2 sensors as they're probably lazy/old by now and it should improve your gas mileage.

I removed the 3rd row seat for more room as a haul stuff for renovating my house. It's pretty heavy so I assume it might help gas mileage but who knows. I did not check before and after. There is a guide to remove the seat on the mdxers forum and I added some notes there on my experience.

I bought all the Weathertech mats including the cargo one, so if I removed the 3rd row seating the cargo mat wouldn't fit because there would be a drop in the floor, but I guess I can just build a little shelf the same dimensions as the third row seating folded down. I use my MDX mainly for work, so I wouldn't need the third row seating. I did take out the 2nd row seating and weighed the seats to see how heavy they were. 180 lbs together. I'll try to get some pictures later in case anyone was wondering how it looks with the 2nd row seats removed. I can always throw them back in if I had to. 5 min install, only 4 bolts per seat

Yum.

Love the black on the grille and headlights. Looks menacing.

Thanks R J Poseidon, but my biggest dellima is deciding which wheels to put on this MDX. I don't think anything looks good on these suv's except for stock. I want to make it look a little aggressive like an offroad SUV, but front bash bars look like crap on theses. I wish they would make a front skid plate for them. And not sure if I should even bother with a small lift kit because I love how smooth she rides stock.

...it does, and bright too!

And no bro, I agree, i would not lift. They ride so good as is.
If anything, for now, just get wider tires next time you need tires.

Wow I like that look, What lights did you use? Are they hooked up to the fog lights?

Blacked out wheels might look good.

Thanks! The spot lights are on a separate switch from the rest of the lights. Those black housing headlights are on e-bay for pretty cheap. I think I paid $180 for both.

I took off my catalytic converter to see how it looked. Put it up against the sunlight and could barely see the light at the end of the tunnel, so I decided to gut it out. There aren't any O2 sensors on the cat so no CEL come on. On another note, I think the j37 IM and TB bolt right on the mdx. My mdx is drive-by wire (2004), so it should work. Anything to get better mpg. I don't care much about power ( I have my CL for that ) since I feather the gas pedal everywhere I go. Besides, i think I'm the only one in the 9 galaxies to go forward on modding the 1st gen X. I've searched all over the web and there aren't any 1st gen mdx's that are tastefully modded. I see potential in the X

Ehhh, I don't think there is any other TB that works other than stock. The harness on the TB is different on the newer ones...

Nope, still sounds as quiet as a mouse, which is great if you want a quiet ride
