03 MDX Shifter is completely stuck
Was replacing the transmission solenoid switches as the cheap ones I bought made the transmission "slam" into gear going from park to reverse and from reverse to drive and from drive to reverse. Putting the transmission cable back on I heard a snap in the cable and all of a sudden the switcher didn't move at all (even pressing the switch release helped). Pulling the rubber booth back I would see a small piece of metal having broken off the part where the cable comes through that is part of the assembly the attaches to the transmission. If I force the shiftier to move as much as possible and then pull on the cable, the shiftier goes back to park. Was not an issue until I heard that "snap" when working on getting it back on to the shift mechanism on the transmission. The shift mechanism on the transmission is moving very smoothly (would expect that as I paid $4,000 to have it completely rebuild (disappointing that they did not replace the solenoid switches and pressure sensors). Would also like to state that there is no amount of force that will make the shiftier go all the way into reverse.
Just wanted to verify that I'm most likely looking at needing to replace the switcher cable. The vehicle does have 174,000 miles on it and this is the original switcher cable. Wanted to make sure as I don't want to go through the job of taking everything apart if it's not the cable.
Quick feedback would be greatly appreciated as I need the car fixed by next weekend.
Thanks
