Definetely down for a mobile version of AZ. The full version gives a hell of a beating to my iPod.

It must be pretty hard to make a mobile version of a forum as big as AZ though, isn't it?

Tapatalk works fairly well...or if you upgrade the forum to current Vbulletin systems (I think they are on 4.07 now) I understand they mesh with mobile phones fairly well right out of the box.

Can't imagine it will be that hard for them to port over as they are already working on one over at club lexus. It works OK. Loads a little bit faster cause of smaller pictures however I have never really had much issue loading it normally on my Droid either. Once problem I have noticed with the mobile version though is there is no way to quote posts.

I still feel that implementing a HTML/CSS mobile solution may be the easiest route to go. No need to make an app when you have very strong web browsers on all the popular mobile platforms. And with HTML5 just around the corner, may be the easiest way to go.

Just a mobile version of the site.

Don't get me wrong...I would kill for an AZ app, but a mobile version of the site would be great. Not that AZ doesn't work on internet capable mobile phones, it would just be much easier with a mobile version instead of having to zoom in to see/get to and click links, etc.

I'm guessing you know what we mean by having a mobile site that auto redirects from www.acurazine.com on a mobile phone, vs an app....

That or just upgrade to 4.x series.....I am hearing that displays very nicely on mobil phones right out of the box.

lol, michael, michael. 4.x is not usable for a site like this.
also, you need to realize that we do not, and can not add individual add ons to our sites. We run the same platform on ALL of our sites, so that we can make global changes if/when necessary. Adding things on an individual site basis, only complicates our upgrade path down the road. We have learned from years of doing it the wrong way, that this is not tenable

Ah....makes sense! Didnt consider migrating those changes across the boards!

Now so far as upgrading to 4.x series....I am suprised they havent done that already. But obviously thats a fairly large undertaking when you are talking multiple sites that may share databases or membership, ect.

Honestly.....add ons, while easy, can be a bit of a PITA at the same time. Simple ones not so much...but the more they alter the more conflicts that can arise with the base software. And troubleshooting those can often make one want to DIAF!

I will stop though...I can tell I am being a PITA and that wasnt my intial intent at all.

YES! I was about to start a thread about this.
I use my phone to control my home computer... then use AZ.
iPhone safari is ok, Opera for iPhone on AZ is horrible.
I think you can get a vB site add-on/theme for phone use...

Sorry guys, the only thing I am sure of is that we will not install tapatalk here. There is a vB app in the alpha stages right now.

The site has become unusable at times on iOS Safari.

And I don't get wasting time on a specific app.

astro my biggest issue with browsing while mobile is the window formatting.

For some reason the top navigation bar bleeds over the forum post towards the right. this makes it very hard to scroll up and down because my phone tries to scroll to the right when auto zooming.

pic because my explanation is gibberish.

Right off my control panel....from back on Nov 15th

vBulletin iPhone app is available to test!
Late last week we released our first version of our native iPhone application on vBulletin.com.
The app can be downloaded from here: http://www.vbulletin.com/go/iphoneapp
We would appreciate any of your feedback on the app.

Personally...I would just wait. Its going to be built into the program here fairly soon I would imagine.

AZ is #2 in line for an app. It's nice, but it's not as good as the Bimmerpost one, that thing is OUTSTANDING.

So, it's going to be an iPhone app not a mobile version?

Will possibly up my contribution to two dollars for mobile.acurazine.com. Possibly.
