Talking Jason's wheel search thread -- not as ballin as ballin's (lots of pics)

OK guys time to help me out here. My ideal rim would sit pretty flush so I'll need some suggestions with offsets etc. If I can avoid running spacers/extended studs, that would be better.

Car: 2005 5AT NBP ... thinking about BBK in the future

I love mesh rims! Ideally, Work VS-XXs but they are out of my current budget. I've looked at the Axis Pentas but the finish doesn't look that great (haven't seen them in person though).

Things I'm looking for:
- sits flush with fender/quarter
- not staggered
- minimum width = 8"
- 18" or 19"
- "hyper black/gun metal"-esque colors, no chrome!

Here are some rims I've been eye-ing:

Enkei RPM2 (yes I know they are discontinued)

18x8 +35 19.4lbs $265
18x8 +45 19.4lbs $265
18x9 +48 21.1lbs $275

Volk GT-M

18x8.5 +? ?lbs $560
18x9 +? ?lbs $576
19x8 +? ?lbs $601
19x8.5 +? ?lbs $609

Volk SF-Winning SFW (maybe custom finish? no chrome!)

18x8 +? ?lbs $643
18x9 +? ?lbs $659
19x8 +? ?lbs $751
19x8.5 +? ?lbs $676

Axis Penta Hyper Black

18x8 +? 22.25lbs $280
19x8.5 +? 24.8lbs $380
19x9.5 +? 25.4lbs $420

BBS RGR

18x8 +40 19lbs $770
19x8 +42 ?lbs $990

Tenzo Type-M V2

Machined
18x8 +37 +45 ?lbs $240
19x8.5 +17 +45 ?lbs $294

Well, thats all I got so far. I know my prices are all over the place! If there are other rims I should be looking at, please suggest and post a picture! Also, please suggest an offset... I have no clue when it comes to that.

Thanks for looking.

Hahah at the thread title, how are you going to post Volks and say that? haha

Enkei RPM2's are some of the hottest rims ever imo. Lightweight, simple design, and no lip makes them look even bigger.

I'm not a huge fan of the GT-M's but the SF winnings are alright, they'd need some low offsets/discs to make them look good.

Also, the finish on Pentas isn't like that at all in real life, they made it look so dark in that picture, haha. It's more like a darker silver and the edge of the lip looks a little lighter, more polished. They look really good in person and lippage is definitely a plus.

Pentas:

Other mesh wheels that I like:
TSW Snetterton

Enkei GTC-01..not really mesh

5Zigen Sports Engine

But still...Enkei RPM2's FTW!

I looked at those but I wasn't feeling the design. Something about how the spokes connect to the outer lip portion. Can't quite put my finger on it but not a huge fan.

Yeah Pentas are high on my list....

Are willing to modify your fenders and stretch tires (like ballin') to get them FLUSH...

How flush do you really want to get???

I'm willing to roll my fenders but not stretch tires... so I guess "almost flush" is my answer.

I used the assumption that you wasn't going to add more than 2 degrees of camber in the rear...

The same for 18's and 19's... Diameter isn't a factor unless you willing to ADD CAMBER...

Add +10mm to the offsets for no tire stretch...

Eh I don't want to run more than 1.5deg (-) of camber... but we'll see.

Not really since most of the time mesh wheels give the appearance the wheels look smaller than they really are.

Most of the time, it's ussually if they have a lip. I think lipless look bigger than they are. Like look, these 19's easily look like 20's:

Have you considered these, we just debuted them this week. Raven Black Machined face Legends in 19" x 8.0" and a 32mm offset. best of all, they are hubcentric. As flush as can be without rubbing.

I've always been a fan of the Liquid Graphite finish but these are pretty hot too. Can you please take some more pictures of them? Its hard to get a good idea of what the finish looks like from the pictures on your website. Got a 3G NBP TL around you and put those on? I wanna see what they'll look like Also, please PM me a shipped price to 60173, if possible.

Dammit... I should sell the TL and buy a Yaris or something. Then I won't be tempted to MOD! And therefore I will have a ton more spending money... sigh

^^That would look awesome on his NBP. But I don't think he wants to spend that kind of money. Maybe he can afford 2 wheels.

Please don't do that... cause then you run the risk of driving a "girl" car or some fool saying that his "trunk set-up" cost more than your Yaris....

Plus... FYI... there are more mods available for the Yaris than the TL....

Haha it all depends. I've already talked myself into increasing my budget to $500/rim and its only been a couple days! Too much good stuff out there to "settle".

HAHAHAA so true. Although its quite sad... I went to a Toyota/Scion meet awhile back and everybody was in line to dyno their xBs, xAs, tCs and YARISs!!!!!!!!!! I went over to mingle and this Yaris was on the dyno. Sounded pretty mean and the owner was listing all his mods. People were calling out numbers and I overheard a 130whp...

No disrespect to the Yaris but there are just some cars you don't dump money into.
