Transmission/Computer Question?
Transmission/Computer Question?
I have moderately modded my 05' automatic TL. UR Pulley, short ram intake, Magnaflow resonator, mid-muffler delete and Magnaflow mufflers. Since doing this, my car wants to shift from 4th to 5th way too soon. Is there a fix for this? Is it a computer thing? Thanks.
turn on the car and turn off ALL accessories, a/c, radio, heater, etc. Then turn the car off and put in position 2 to where the car is running off the battery and the navi starts up. Then hold down the gas pedal for 30 seconds. this should reset the ECU and the transmission logic. You can also disconnect the battery for 30 mins, but you will need your radio code, navi code and will loose radio presets and memory seating positons which will need to be redone.
Just curious if you actually disconnected the battery or went with the 30 secs./ "full throttle" method like csmeance mentioned to reset the ECU and transmission logic? They seem to achieve the same results but less hassle using the throttle method
I really dont think it will make any difference.... the computer is made to learn as u drive so if you beat it up it'll give u a beating setting....if u dont it'll give you the grandma setting and itll adjust itself accordingly as its driven everyday..... the reason the tranny may have changed its shift pattern is from the pulley it senses the motor revving up faster than intended by the manufacturer because theres less mass and exhaust is expelled faster and taken in faster.... from the other mods.....its all a result of the mods made..... it happened to me and my mechanic at acura retarded timing so nothing breaks. i recently got the apexi vafc 2 and im waiting to tune the car on a dyno at a friends shop.
