Post pics of painted grille options please

Im a 2g owner that is interested in the new TL but scared of that cheese slicer grille. I know there are random pics on here of different painted grilles but i wants to see if we could start one single thread to help people visualize. Lets see whats out there so far...

Since you've seen those pics, you could populate your thread with such images.

fully painted color of car like the last black photos show. That's the only way to go. I'm considering getting one before Christmas. That will have to be part of the deal for me to buy one. The TSX grill is acceptable but this one is over the top and in your face too much. Can't live with that.

Here's the Keyes Acura TL with my favorite painted grille setup (just the outer frame) and also the rear "boomerang" was painted as well...

And of course, one option that could become very popular when released is the Ronjon grille...

This may be true, but painting the nose SAVES the car.

Painting it all looks good imo - anything to hide that ugly nose. As someone said earlier, that grill is one large target for rocks, buy lots of touch up paint.

I agree that the painted grille looks better. However, I wonder whether the new paint will fade at a different rate than the rest of the car's paint. If so, it may look worse in the long run.

Steven, I don't know which part of my comments you are questioning: the part that the painted grille looks better or the part that the new paint may fade at a different rate. My comments are just my opinion, and I am open to opposing views, especially when such views are backed up by facts.

Well said Kenny. I was questioning your concern about the paint fade. I don't think you need to worry about that. If it's painted well, it will fade, just like the rest of the car.

I would not worry about paint fading. If it is done with a basecoat/clearcoat system, it will not fade for a LONG time. This method, used on all cars now, is great as the topcoat clear layer stops all UV rays from penetrating to the base color layer, therefore no fade.

I wouldn't worry about fading, I would be more concerned about rock chips. If it were my car, I would go with a clear bra on the grille after it was painted.

I have been talking to my Service Manager about this exact issue, after looking at these pics I think I am going to have to come up with a deal to offer him to see what he thinks. I like the way it looks A LOT better!!

So, like most people I was very disappointed that the New TL looks the way it does. But secretly I reveled in it's ugliness, because my 3G TL looks fantastic, even when compared to the new 4G.

Now RJ is going to put our 3G's back in its place... I think the 4G with RJ looks utterly amazing. . .

I am wondering what this would look like, painting everything but the beak on a WDP.
