I am looking for snow tires for my 2012 MDX. The tire size from factory is 255/50-19. I am wanting to go with 17s, and the Tire Rack website shows the recommended as 245/65-17, however when I checked a size comparison, it shows a 1.7% difference. The alternative on the website lists 235/65-17, which is a 0% difference.

Is there a reason why the Tire Rack website is recommending the one with a size difference?

Does anyone have recommendations on which size to go for?

mine is 255-50-19. Love it. But is more noisy than OEM Michelin.

You're getting different wheels, right? Can't put 17" tires on 19" wheels

I have been looking into winter tires too. I too checked out the recommended winter package kit from tirerack.com I have decided that my next tire purchase are going to be the Nokian WRG3 SUV tires. All-weather over All-season tires.
