Wheel/Rim Vibration ???
Just got a NEW 2012 MDX/Tech. Love this car. Shopped BMW, and MB and Acura had me sold hands down.
Now I really think the stock rims look like crap.
I know Ronjon has the perfect fit for acura.
BUT, I like MRR rims, and a few others.
Right now MDX has ZERO wheel shake or vibration at any speed.
I travel I-75 a lot, and constantly cruise in the 75-85 MPH range, and enjoy NO vibrations.
Question is ... can I get "Other" rims, and use a quality hub ring, and expect ZERO vibration as well ??
My local tire shop told me not to mess with it.
Anybody have actual experience they can share ???
Thanks!

I would say that you can achieve what you want if you are willing to pay for it. Are you going to go larger wheels? Or just use the stock tires and change up the rims? No matter what you do, get a better than average tire and also they will need to be Road Forced/ Ride Matched, then balanced. Road Force will match the tires to the wheels so that you get the smoothest ride possible. I am rolling an 18" wheel/tire package on my RL and smooth as silk. I am just running 17" on my X and it is also smooth.
I always suggest Discount Tire Co. and if you are not close to a store you can always shop at Discount Tire Direct and they will mail everything to you.
This is just my .
Mike.

Just had a negative experience with Discount Tire Direct. Wrong size hub rings, wrong size lug nuts, corrected lug nuts came without the correct adapter. I'm a 4X repeat customer and this is the first time everything has gone badly for me. But finally I got the tires and wheels on the car ( the RL, not MDX ) and even though they are larger than OEM originals by 1" with a more aggressive offset, they ride perfect. Seriously perfect. So at least something worked in the end. And the sales people on the phone did try to be helpful each time.
Road force balance is worth it really.

Hi, I have a 2008 mdx and I just put on new Pirelli tires that were highly recommended by "Tirerack". I had to go back three times for balancing of the tires. The head of the tire/alignment department at Pohanka Acura told me that the MDX are very sensitive when I come to tire/wheel balancing. He spent the better part of the morning and afternoon to get my car in order. I now have ZERO shake/vibration, It is so great. My recommendation is make sure the dealer/tire place uses a "Road force balancer" and they must be very precise in their work.

Three Wheelin'
sxracer, congrats on the new MDX. Great choice.
Perhaps I can shed some light as I have aftermarkets on my 2006 MDX and have swapped out every set of factory wheels on all of my cars since 1995.
Acura/Honda center hubs are 64.15mm. If your upgraded wheels have 64.15mm center hubs, then you won't need hub rings. For example, you can run 19" or 20" ZDX wheels with zero vibration concerns. In addition, all RonJon wheels are 64.15mm as they are specifically made for Honda/Acuras.
Most aftermarket wheels tend to have a larger center bore to accomodate the various manufacture hubs. I run 66.5mm to 64.15mm hub rings on my MRR HR-2s and have little to no vibration. Because Acura wheels are centered on the hub, hub rings are essential to a smooth ride.
No matter what wheels you have, proper balancing is essential to a smooth ride.

The Tech StocK Wheels leave aome things to be desired.
That is why I went with the Advanced model.
Also because of the other features on this model.
I think 19 inch is the way to go also.
Its just $$$ but see if you can a try or return if it dont work for you
with the all important drive test.
