Very confused about the 2G MDX paddle shifters

I am very confused about the paddle shifters in the 2G mdx. I went and seen a 2007 mdx tech today and when I went to reach for the paddles, I was shocked to see it did not have any.

Then I read an ottowa based review on the 2007 mdx and they stated that the MDX now had sequential shift paddle shifters. What am I missing? .

I know I seen reviews and pictures with paddle shifters...I didn't pay attention, but is it possible this was a US model and that the Canadian 2007+ models had paddles while the US 2010+ models had paddles? What is going on here? I even seen threads discussing putting a 2010-2013 wheel on the 2007-2009 MDX....umm?

I just assumed all 07-09 MDX had the gear shift mounted +- Sequential SportShift mode and the +10 went with the paddles like the 07-12 RDX. You have more flexibility with the paddles since you can down/up shift at anytime in "D" mode and return to full auto once you hit the gas. You can go into "S" mode if you want to hold a certain gear longer (towing, hills, acceleration). You have to take one hand off the wheel more to do the same thing on the 07-09 MDX.

My TSX has a gear shift SportShift mode while my RDX and MDX have paddles. I think the reviewer might have confused model years or other Acura models with paddles and gear shift modes.

Unfrotunately looks like you are correct. Looking onlin at local classified ads, I do not see any paddles on any of the 07-09 models. Really dissapointed at that, also no "S" position on the shift gate either. Really really disapointed at that.

When I go home in the evening, I drive down a very steep hill that merges 3 times in quick succession, the paddles help because I downshift on the way down and it gives me a nice controlled roll down the hill vs using my brakes.

I rarely use the paddles in my RDX for driving fast, the go pedal and the turbo usually do a good enough job at it, but during the occational times where I do use them, it gives a really impresssive acceleration.

I guess I could always just use the lever to downshift down the hill. But the absence of sport mode bothers me.
