Question Upgrade from TL to MDX: Is the Advance worth it?

I have loved my 2007 TL but time has come to get the 'ute.

I am looking for the 2010-2011 models.

Is the Advance package worth the bump over the Tech?

Aside the upgraded leather (a plus...) and the ventilated seats (I'm assuming a plus...), will I use the ACC, CMBS, and BSI?

I have heard that the BSI sensors are located in the bumper, not the ususal spot on the mirrors. I've heard this creates a lot of false positives. Will I just leave it turned off?

It appears to be $2000-$3000 more for a sub-45k mileage Advance.

Thanks in advance! no pun intended

Yes its worth it. Get the advance model.
BSI are a must in this car turning your head you still can't see much to change lanes, it should of came with it like all 2014 MDX's.
Vent seats I use this everytime I drive my car for no reason...its just nice.
The 19inch advance wheels is what makes this car!!!
CMBS is a real nice feature too.
Adjust shocks on the fly? Nice!

Thanks. After posting, I searched for threads asking pretty much the same thing. A bunch of similar statements made on the options in question.

While it does command a premium, the specific features make it more than just a normal higher trim level.

Now if only find the 2010-2011 off-lease color combo I want!!!

I went with 11 Adv/Ent off lease in Jan/14 and haven' been disappointed at all with this vehicle. I've put over 15,000 miles on the MDX in just 8 months of ownership. I purchased the X for a main family hauler and the extra tech comes in handy on the hwy and unfamiliar cities. I had to travel to the next state +5hrs to pick up my X.

- The ACC makes it so easy and less stressful to use the cruise control when the hwy gets a little busy
- BSI is a very good triple check along with looking over your shoulder and using mirrors
- CMBS works very well with ACC and it has kicked in a few times faster than my reaction to slow the Big X down
- Cooled seats really came in handy on a recent trip in Houston, pretty much use them all the time during the southwest summers.
- I keep the ADS on sport and the wife prefers comfort mode, everyone is happy
- I only got the Ent because of the rear heated seats, son got good use in Jan/Feb with them
- The auto shocks/struts also assist in braking to keep the big X level and the larger stabilizer bars (front/rear) improves handling when the road get twisty

I had a few issues with my X, such as:
- torn front stabilizer bar endlink boot (replaced under warranty)
- center seat cup holder stuck (replace under warranty)
- Driver 1 key fob taking 2-4 presses to work (replaced under warranty)
- Replaced both front ADS struts because of knocking (replaced under warranty)
- TSB re-flash of 6AT, actually got a boost in hwy mpgs of 1-2 mpgs
- Adjusted HID at dealership, seemed to be pointed too low (fixed under warranty)

I would make sure there is some type of warranty left on Adv X you pick just in-case there are minor issues you might discover months down the road. The good thing about the X is there is little to no difference in the 10-13 models other than price/mileage. You will have plenty of time and a good supply for the next few years coming off lease.

Yes!

I agree with all answers above, but as you know with Acura, you do get what you pay for. And most of these features might be overlooked until you realize they helped avoid an accident or added comfort to that one spot you never knew you needed it.

I forgot to mention the radar for the BSI is located on both side of the MDX on the rear quarter panel around where the rear wheel mud flap would start. The BIS light alert is located inside the cabin near the side view mirrors. It show solid yellow when a vehicle is within your blind spot and flashes is you use your turn signal with a vehicle in your blind spot.

Some folks complain about the MDX BSI light location inside the cabin; but, I think it is in a perfect position:
- no worries about foggy/wet/icy widows/mirrors blocking the indicator
- no worries about HID/LED headlights behind you washing out the side view mirrors at night
- no worries about sunlight washing out side view mirrors
- easy to notice from the corner of your eye in normal driving

BSI has some limitations like:
- it takes about 1-1 1/2 seconds to register a vehicle on BSI
- hit/miss on motorcycles because of the location of the motor bike is in the next lane
- BSI may not activate if the speed difference is greater than 20-25 mph between the two vehicles

What I like about ACC, CMBS, BSI, and ADS is it is always on, active, scanning, and ready to react 100% of the time. Maybe 1-5% of the time is may over react (slow down ACC on a curve, brake alert going under a low bridge, etc..). Over react is a lot better than under react; which, is what we do sometimes if we are distracted for a split second.

You do have the option to turn off all the tech if you don't like it on the Advance model.
